These are from way back when I still had energy and desire to experiment with different styles and techniques.

If I have the time I prefer to spent the majority of time on drawing and inking, so that the picture looks complete even without the colors. It also makes coloring much easier XD Thank you for your in-depth feedback. It's nice to see that somebody takes my work that seriously.

2025-09-01 06:31:53 +0000 UTCIt’s really fun to see how much you were experimenting back then. “Taking One For The Team” in particular feels like a direct nod to those old Mad Magazine superhero parodies, with that clean ink line that almost looks like Mort Drucker at times. And “Luthor-TV” could pass for a lost panel from a 90’s Vertigo comic, the gritty textures and overloaded backgrounds almost scream Bisley or early Quitely. What I love the most though is the inking-only version of Taking One For The Team: it shows how strong your draftsmanship was even before the color came in. Almost has that European bande dessinée sharpness to it. It’s wild to compare these old pages to your current style, your line has become so much cleaner and bolder, with stronger silhouettes and way more focus on expression (and, of course, curves... 😏 Thanks again for sharing these blasts from your artistic past, may the Akabur archives never run dry (or we’ll have to start raiding your attic ourselves...)
