386 - My Video Game Reviews.

HELLO and welcome to another Monday post! The moment you have been waiting for is finally here: I am ready to review the PlayStation2 James Bond games I have been playing lately! Let's do this!

AGENT UNDER FIRE. Negatives: the story is basically nonexistent, some characters show up, once are never mentioned again (like the hot twins for example). Another big negative is that the game does not have an ending. After you beat the final stage you just get ejected into the main menu. Now for the positives: the girls are hot, the gunplay is fun, the level design is immersive and engaging. This was one of those rare games where I did not mind getting a Game Over screen and trying the stage from the beginning again. Overall it does a good job making you feel like a spy. Really enjoyed this one, but the lack of the ending left a sour taste in my mouth.

NIGHTFIRE. First half of the game is fantastic, second half feels rushed and unfinished. Gunplay not as fun as in the previous game. Positives: feels more polished overall, with nice visuals. The girls are hot. Some of the levels are extremely immersive. Does a great job making you feel like a special agent. Over all I had a lot of fun with this one.

EVERYTHING OR NOTHING. I am only about half-way through with this one, but I already hate it. It's very high budget, with licensed cars and famous actors. The gameplay feels slick and polished. But after a couple of missions everything starts to feel repetitive, this a 3rd person shooter before everything else. Spy stuff takes a back seat. Girls are somewhat hot, but their costumes are often quite bland. Almost every level has a lot of backtracking, all game mechanics feel very calculated and soulless. Feels like a modern game sometimes, and I don't mean it as a compliment.

TO SUM IT UP. I will try to finish Everything Or Nothing before next Monday, but simply because I feel like I need to do it, not because I want to. Looking back I would say Agent Under Fire is the best game out of the three for me, despite the messy story and the lack of actual ending. ^_^

THE WORK. Last week I spent quite a few hours working on some new art assets. Check the EXTRA!! post for some new wips.

AND THAT IS ALL. Thank you for your support and I will see you all, next Monday.

Believe it or not, I had to google for it just now, because I never heard of this series of games before. I must say, it looks very interesting! Added to the backlog! Thank you.

Uff... Looks like the time has come for your to learn the dark truth about me: I am not a VN expert. I have a long list of VNs that I "want to play one day", but I didn't play all that many. If anything I would like to hear your recommendations to add more stuff to my backlog.

It sucks that the bond games follow the pattern of each entry is worse, the more money is put into it :/ Since this is a game review Monday Post I have to ask for advice. I haven't played any visual novels in many, many years. Few days ago I started Bokutachi wa Ikenai Asobi o Oboeteyuku ~Fuuun Aiuchi Gakuen Flat 2~ and got very, very into it. I'm already done but I wanted to ask Akabur-Sensei if he does have any Visual Novel recommendations? Thanks in advance and Have a great day!

Always liked the No One Lives Forever series myself.
