He lives.
A passion project I had been wanting to work on for some time, I drew Frankenstein’s unnamed creature based on Shelley’s description of him from the 1818 novel, which differs quite greatly from how he is commonly depicted in pop-culture, both physically and characteristically. Shelley details the creature as standing around eight feet (240 cm) in height, possessing lustrous black hair, black lips, pearly white teeth, perfectly proportioned and “beautiful” features that contrast his deep-set, watery eyes and translucent yellowish skin pulled so taut by the many stitches, it barely disguises “the workings of the vessels and muscles underneath.” He is also described as being very strong, swift, agile, emotional, and intelligent. Let me know how well you believe I interpreted Shelley’s creation and which of the versions of the artwork is your favorite.
