One thing that audiences commonly over-look in regards to the process of developing a web-comic is:
LITERALLY. EVERYTHING. Has to be designed.
And not just a simple "Oh, what should this look like? What would look the 'coolest'?"
Every design has to be practical. It has to make sense to the character. It has to easily exist in the world that it is represented in. It has to match the theme of the character and/ or environment. And from and artistic standpoint, it has to "blend in with the universe and mythology", and has to be understandably replicatable from multiple angles.
Characters. Objects. Environments. Color palates. Shading directions and significance. Every. Single. Thing. Needs to be thought about, discussed, created, designed, and executed.
Never take a single comic panel for granted.
