While a send up of biopics in general and ironically influencing the future of most biopics to follow it is on some level modeled around Johnny Cash - I Walk the Line. I had a fantastic time now rewatching this with you today. It really lifted my spirits.

2025-05-30 01:42:59 +0000 UTCI have no idea how this movie didn't win ALL the awards. As just a music biopic, it's perfect; a perfect lampooning of every music biopic that came before and since. The music is *incredible*, and eclectic too. And John C Reilly's performance was perfect. If it wasn't a comedy, he'd've won the Oscar for Best Actor, I'm convinced of it, but the academy just doesn't give a shit about comedies. Too bad.
