Chief is a derogatory term because itβs been used as a slur towards Native Americans. Itβs been in films, books, etc. for example, just because someone is Native American male doesnβt mean theyβre a βchiefβ. And the title βChiefsβ for a team will typically come with a βIndianβ mascot wearing a head dress. Shout out to yall for the awareness π«ΆπΌπ₯Ή
