Patrick Long is a racing driver and one of the founders of Luftgekuhlt.  He boot-strapped his way from So Cal karting kid to Porsche Factory  driver, becoming the only American to wear that distinction.

Patrick Long is one of the most accomplished sports car drivers of his  generation. From 2003 to 2021 Long served as the lone American on  Porsche’s roster of factory drivers. Long has captured victory at the  world’s biggest sports car races – winning at the 24 Hours of Le Mans,  the Rolex 24 at Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, Petit Le Mans, and the 12  Hours of Bathurst. Long is also a three-time American Le Mans Series  champion and two-time Pirelli World Challenge champion.

Now that I think about it, this might have been what triggered Porsche to take the Taycan back to the Nurburgring and shatter the Plaids time by over 20 seconds. Porsche saw the video, knew it was BS, and went back to the ring to ACTUALLY beat the Plaids time. Hats-off to you Porsche, super classy and low-key way to respond to brand misrepresentation. (This is speculation by me, of course).

Matt, just wanted to make a comment. This does have to do with Porsche so not entirely off-topic. Earlier today, Jason Fenske released a video debunking the Porsche 911 vs Cybertruck (while towing a 911) drag strip stunt pulled by Tesla. He definitively proved the video was dishonest and misleading (i.e. it being a 1/8th mile, not 1/4 mile race amongst many other things...). As expected, Jason provides all the math to support his conclusion. He suggests Elon should apologize to Porsche for being unfair and misrepresenting the brand (ironically, exactly what Elon cried about when Top Gear reviewed the Roadster all those years ago). I wanted to bring this up because it is another example of something you said back in 2019 regarding the Cybertruck vs F150 stunt..."Why would you make up a game for your truck and then cheat at it?" Well said and your instincts continue to be accurate. Cheers!

I was successful in karting growing up but decided to become a teacher instead of keep racing. Now I coach karting on the side. What do you think adds significant value as a driving coach? Who was the best you’ve had?
