Dev Report #46 (March 14th, 2025)

E13-F is not out yet but I'm working on it.
The first half of this last week was spent on finishing the additions I had made and the latter half has been spent fixing hardware / packaging issues.
The issues are nothing major, unfortunately they are time sinks.
I'm keeping my head on straight, admittedly I do have an urge to alter some things but I'm not going to do it. I've had forever to work on this and I just have to leave it where it is.
The update will be up as soon as it is ready. It will release to all patrons at the same time, it will also be available to former-patrons via the "#links-to-latest-versions" channel in the discord.
This last update for E13 will include the rest of the Jasmine Date (around 300 renders), and the Flight Home (Around 200 renders, including variant renders).
I also have a strong urge to set another release window but I'm going to keep it to myself until everything is working, packaged, and uploaded.
A big problem this month has been me trying to make too many changes. After over a year of being stuck in my head I have a lot to fix and work on. Most notably being my physical and mental health and after setting the first release date this month everything just started spiraling down again and managing everything got a lot more stressful and confusing.
For whatever reason I am bound to release dates, it's how I started and I deeply truly want to get back to that but it's just not in the cards right now and me trying to chase it is making things so much worse than they need to be.
For someone with the problems I have and as someone who works up until the release, I just have to work with how things are right now and stay away from them and just upload when things are ready.
There are few obstacles left in the way before release so it shouldn't be much longer.
I am sorry for missing more dates and causing more frustration.
After the serious and heavy update with the Daliah scene, this upcoming update has some seriousness but is mostly focused on the fun.
Then there's E14 which will be the last full update of S2-C1. But again, I'll save the E14 talk for the dev report after E13 is fully released.
Thank you guys, I'll keep you updated in the comments here and on discord. I won't be setting a time for this release it will truly just be posted the moment it is ready which could be the middle of the day or the middle of the night and everything in-between.

I do try to see the good in people, but it's reasonable to say that it's unfair to the supporters who've waited for a long time. I do remember playing the game 2 years ago and it hasn't really come that far, it's just a shame because I think this series has a lot of potential and is genuinely one of the better ones I've seen. Then again I haven't been an active supporter during that time, so I can understand the frustration of other people. Maybe it's for the better, but another side of me hopes BD manages to get back on track. Anyways thanks for the insight💯

I am not saying he is a bad person but his business ethic is terrible. I play quite a few other on-going VN's and almost all of them put out full updates every 2-4 months with the exception of a couple that do one 6 months to a year but those updates have a lot of hours of game play. For me personally since I started here it's been roughly a year to a year and a half and I am still waiting for the entirety of episode 13 to be finished. At this rate if he doesn't get removed from this platform his subscribers numbers will get so low that everyone will find out if this is really a passion project to him because the money he gets will not be worth the time he puts in. Do you really want to it to come to that? To see even bigger gaps in releases because value-wise it's not worth it to him or even worse it gets abandoned. I would rather it not come to that however everyone has to make decisions and face the consequences whether they are good or bad is based on what "you" do. So I don't disagree with how Katie feels because I enjoy WVM quite a bit and because of that I feel similar to how Katie feels.

Everyone can understand that delays happen everyone knows life gets in the way. However there's only so much people can stomach before voicing their concerns about almost 2 years worth of delays this that etc etc you get my point. So no just because we haven't made a VN doesn't mean we can't voice our opinions/frustrations just like you are allowed to defend him. Idk how anyone can after. So long even bd himself says he needs to do better to earn our trust back. Sadly he hasn't done that yet this year.

He's certainly been more consistent than other creators I've seen before. He post regularly and still updates the game to this day, so if people aren't satisfied with the release dates then why not stop supporting instead of downright reporting him?

2025-03-25 19:01:56 +0000 UTCWhile I too have disappointment in update delays and such with many developers I follow, I have found that when they take longer to complete an update the update is usually much better than a rushed update as well as longer game play than a rushed update. Every developer suffers from things like brain freeze, burnout, and real life stepping on their dreams of game development. IF we have not experienced developing a game then we have no right to judge a developer for taking longer to complete an update or from posting, at least letting us know, they have a problem with the development, no matter what that problem is. After all. We EACH deal with our problems in different ways. There is also the matter where WVM has suspended payments while dealing with whatever is going on right now. This demonstrates that WVM is not trying to take advantage of any of us. Wait until the update is finally released and then see what efforts WVM has put into the product that makes it worth waiting a bit longer. No matter what the reason, or as some suggest excuse, it given for a delay. If you cannot develope a game you have no right to judge any developer. Think about this when you get angry about delays and think how you would feel when your fans and clients show such contempt in postings. Then realize that is what you put on a developer when you "Bitch" about their reasons for a delay. Many developers don't bother to tell us what is going on. They just release updates when they happen to be ready. Most of those that take time to release are well worked and longer lasting. If you have enjoyed this game so far show some restraint and respect to WVM for their efforts. If you have not enjoyed the game then cancel your membership to WVM's page and move on. Let the rest of the fans and followers continue in peace. No disrespect entended or meant against any of you. Why must you demonstrated disrespect for efforts of any developer. I too pay for my membership to WVM's Patreon. I gain no benefit sharing my personal viewpoint on developer performance because I am not a developer. I have no right to judge any developer's performance just as any of you who has no idea of what it takes to create a storyline, write the story, create the renderings and any animations they include. If you cannot do these things you have no right to judge anyone who is doing these things.

Are you not retaining what you learn during fixing these packaging issues? Maybe take notes when fixing the packaging issues so they are not as big of issue the next many times you have them?

2025-03-23 10:29:37 +0000 UTCOkay, slight update. It's been a tech hell week but the tech hell is mostly over, I finally got my PC's stable. No more bsods after a few minutes into boot loops. The reason there hasn't been a report is that I wanted to have E13-F out first before posting it, I'll talk about the whole process in it but it essentially boils down to me trying to fully fix the issues around packaging instead of bandaid solutioning it and it went very poorly. I still have to get the update packaged but it's the usual fight instead of the nightmare this week was. I've been up all night and I've just very recently got things stable, I'm going to stay up and work on the packaging but I do have family visiting today. I'm going to try as much as I can until they're here. No hard dates as things aren't finished and uploaded but I'm going to do as much as I can to have it out as early as possible in this upcoming week. I paused pledges again but I will be unpausing when E13-F is out.

Stuff like that is super frustrating I get it you said you have trouble with adding stuff and etc etc. but how did it go from yup releasing today to pushed back again it just adds to the growing list of excuses I want to believe you're changing for the better but when you go radio silent after it'll be up soon drives alot of us who supporter you crazy.

I would rather have artists that stay healthy by taking breaks as they need to and continue to produce art rather than maintain regular updates and burn themselves out and stop updating all together.
