Technical difficulties

I'm not "groveling", I just understand. I get everyone feels they are being shorted or lied to, but the fact is the dev is alone in this endeavor, and it is a lot of work for little gain. Plus they have to live in the real world and provide for their family. I've been there, so I can have the patience. 3D artwork takes time, just look up how long it takes for Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks to release a 80+ minute movie. And they have super computers and hundreds of employees working on them! On average it's 2 years. That's just the video, the hardest part for them is the lip syncing to the audio. This is a labor of love for the dev, they want it perfect for US, not to make money. You go to work for 8 - 10 hours, come home to fix a meal, they sit at your computer for a few hours, go to bed, then get up and start it all over again. Day in and out. I've done that, you should try it and and tell ME how YOU feel.

Marius, if it's personal work then he shouldn't be charging for it. As soon as you start charging for it, it's no longer personal work, it's now a business. Part of a business is delivering products or services. When you repeatedly miss deadlines criticism is to be expected. Missing a deadline or two is not a big deal, but when it gets to be over 6 consecutive missed deadlines with essentially the same couple of excuses recycled time after time, that's a little much. Everyone has issues in life, but most of us have to deal with our issues and still go to work everyday. Now why can't BrainDelay do the same?

Yeah but many of them have given him advice already. I paid for a year and haven't seen a single update since I paid. Sure he has paused payments several times but that doesn't help people that has already paid for months or more. I wish he would just do like many other developers and get it as close to polished as possible then do a hot fix for found bugs/errors. This is one of my favorites out of the 30 to 40 I have played but it's getting to the point where it feels like he doesn't appreciate us. I understand it's a personal project for him but he accepts our money for a service which is a business transaction.

I agree about his time table issues and he can word things more appropriately but this is also a personal work and not a business and he seems to be learning from all this. So how about belittling him all the time, give him some suggestions as to help instead of demanding answers. As stated before, if you are not happy or upset, just leave. BD you’ve put yourself into a situation that is causing stress for all parties involved. I get your a creative personality type. I’ve work with them throughout my career. First, you need to get organized in a big way, my friend. Build out an Outlook or Google calendar with your tasks, notifications, publishing dates, etc. Next, don’t be so detailed in your communications to supporters. Now, this doesn’t mean write a single sentence or ghost people for long periods of time. It means craft your updates to be interesting and informative without promising deliverables you cannot achieve. This way you are not setting expectations you cannot fulfill, and you won’t be stressed from the backlash of your clients. Next, before you announce a publishing date, TEST your Sh*t. Nothing upsets people more than a broken product. I really hope my two cents gives you some help in dealing with your current predicament. Laters ✌️

not the explicit word on discord, just ive seen a few posts and comments from people seem to expect the update anytime now, just because he said BY the end of AUG, my post was just to say that the way BD works he waits until the very last moments if he releases on time at all. the date i gave was just my opinion that if he releases it on this date at that time he did what he said, bearing that in mind i don't expect it to be released. So far he is still doing his silent treatment schtick. (Yes i know he said that he would go radio silent till release, this is bad move on his part 2-3 weeks with no communication is poor form (again)).

I like the game, I'm good with waiting till it's out. Yeah it sucks that it's not on time but I'm good with it. We all still going to play it. Games movie etc get delayed all the time. Even with big studios. We all wait for that stuff. This is only 1 person and now 2 people if I'm correct. It'll be out when it's out. Would it perhaps be possible to split the game at this point and just use this update as the start of a part 2? It seems alot of devs running multiple versions keep noting that it's in part due to all wierd errors popping up along with download size allowing faster downloads for the user.

You know I woke up yesterday and really couldn't be bothered going to work, I just wanted to have a day to myself and chill! The problem with that was I had promised a client I'd be at their property on said date to do work for them so I got my ass up, went and done the job and left with a happy customer, payment in my bank account and zero complaints! @Philippe giving criticism is not the same as hate. Calling everyone that is giving criticism haters is just like hiding behind "oh it's just fake news", it's a very weak statement. I agree that some people here could be less aggressive, but any way you turn it around BD doesn't deliver. That's not hate, it's just fact. There are a lot of people here really keen on BD getting the job done, and some try to give both support, advice and criticism. So far nothing has helped. He keeps doing the same thing over and over.

If it ain't broken then don't fix it!! Dude you've got to stop doing this. Bring on some proffessionalism. 1. Plan the feature you're going to build. 1-2 weeks. You do no "real" work during this period. What is required to get it done? Initial time estimates, that you do NOT release to the public, and resources needed. 2. you work on your feature for 2 months. At end of that period it's "feature complete" as in you're not allowed to bring in any new features, new images or new code. 3. You have 3 weeks of bug fixing and testing. 2 first weeks you fix any bugs, last week you ONLY fix the bugs that breaks the game. 4. You turn the game over to some sort of release control for 1 or 2 weeks, as in when you do this the release is totally out of your hands. 5. When release control has all info it needs for release and are sure there are no game breaking bugs, they will release it. End of feature. Start next feature, same procedure.
