Takopi's Original Sin Episode 4 Reaction Extended (YT link below)

Probably both to the measure that he's motivated by each. I'm maybe more on the extreme end of this spectrum though (compared to anime standards of heroism) so I think this endeavor overall is doomed by his Achilles heel of needing something here

That's interesting. Very different shows but it does seem like they belong in the same category

Putting aside the question whether Azuma likes Shizuka instead of viewing her as a substitute of Mom's approval... Does it count as good that he reached out to help her not out of altruism or sympathy but because "I don't want bullying incidents to mess my student life" and "I have to do this because that'll get me good boy points like Junya"?

Funny enough, the editor for this show, Kumiko Sakamoto, as well as the animation director for this episode, Hayate Nakamura, both did work on MHA movies, with Sakamoto having edited nearly every episode of MHA and 3/4 of the movies. So is it any coincidence the animation for Junya reaching out resembles the One For All charge-up?!?! Yeah I would assume it just probably is one, but it is interesting since that art is not found in the manga outside of the sparkle effect, and it is interesting to see the parallel in that animation when it comes to the themes of what both of those things represent. Junya is reaching out, meddling if you will, being a hero to his brother, passing on his experiences and his strength in order to save his brother. Pretty powerful scene in that regard, but also just cathartic release from such dreadful lows.

Hearing your classmate has been found dead. I can't imagine the impact it would have on you at that age. Kind of makes me morbidly think about what it will be like the first time I'll hear of someone I went to school with passing away. I'm sure it'll be an impactful event.

He can't beat the best boy allegations. His rebellion is being blond, being a supportive brother, and being employed.

Azuma’s whole story is wonderful, especially as an older brother. There’s a special sadness and fear that such an awful experience may be afflicting younger siblings, and every instinct pushes you to be there for them if you can only see it in time. If you do, then there’s no better feeling than helping them to overcome it. It doesn’t hurt that Junya’s intervention is the first time (hopefully so far) that things haven’t deteriorated into further horror and wretchedness. Given that this is 2016, Junya’s probably failing hard at fighting Arzuros or something in Monster Hunter Generations. I like those subtle references that help to ground this series even further. Also, though I get the implications of Junya separating himself from the family clinic, I do find it humorous that Azuma’s perception of “acting out” is getting a job.
