This show and the lessons it's reminded me of and taught me are invaluable. Equally as important are your videos, your thoughts, and your comments. I remember coming across your reactions to Midnight Gospel in 2020 and loving your articulation of the shows difficult and deep themes but my hero and other animes you cover are very different shows. Yet no other reactor is able to articulate such meaningful and impactful thoughts like you. Last year was one of the most difficult years of my life, on top of many other life/personal lessons, my hero and your videos give me motivation and hope. Thank you for everything. Also, congrats on your first child!!!!

2026-01-07 07:10:54 +0000 UTC17:55 "We change only when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of changing" the quote is attributed to, of all people, Tony Robbins. Not quite Mark Twain, but same same. ;)

2026-01-07 05:18:26 +0000 UTCI know it wasn't planned and the storys pace kinda required everything to happen in their 1st school year but it still feels clunky in retrospect. It's the unfortunate thing about a lot of ongoing shonen mangas where the mangaka has an idea that gets picked up and then they mostly keep it going for as long as they can without too much of a plan right from the start. Maybe a decent amount was planned but compared but compared to some other series it doesn't really feel like that. MHA's strength is more in the characters, themes and action for sure than super thought out and planned world building or plot. Still a good ending for everything that was built up though mostly.

2026-01-07 02:58:02 +0000 UTCI will be forever grateful to the Anime for giving this Episode their all and improving on the Final Chapter. Coz when I first read it, I thought it was a perfectly fine ending, but I was also a little disappointed by a number of things. The Anime, having the full picture thanks to interviews, the artbook, the extra chapter from the final Volume and the Data Book, managed to make it much more satisfying and the really good Ending MHA deserves. I think some of it is also me having time to sit with it (now also having the full picture ofc) and think about what the author was going for and why he may have made the choices he did, part of it is overlooking some of the more subtle hints (like mouth-sewn-shut guy going to UA, totally missed that the first time!), and part of it is my slight obsession with this story and characters that needed definite answers to be truly satisfied, but I really appreciate the Anime taking it's time here so much. It lets you live in the moment in a way the Manga unfortunately didn't have time for, and that makes it work so much better for me. Best example: Graduation. In the Manga it was a couple of panels, Iida did the speech, Bakugou did the wall thing, graduation check, moving on. The Anime lingers, giving us true closure to their time at Hero School, which was how this story started, and I really needed that. Seeing them all get their diplomas, hearing the speech, celebrating the milestone makes a world of difference. And the Anime addresses an other issue I had, which was telling over showing. What do you mean, Mirio is Top Hero, and then you don't even show his new design? Did Edgeshot get his body back? Mouth-sewn-shut kid's whole backstory hits harder when you see it play out, rather than just being told about it. I also really love how they included databook information in the outro to give us at least a little glimpse at what everyone is up to 8 years later, like Deku said, it's everyone's story, I wanna know how they are doing as well! That final chapter left me with a lot of questions (What's Endeavor doing these days, I'm assuming Toya is dead by now? Helping Hawks? Is All Might still teaching? Did Jirou's ear grow back? Can Bakugou use his arm again? When exactly did Deku's ember go out? Who won the other two sports festivals? What did they do at the culture festivals? Or in general, other than passing the licensing exam? Did Mandalay take Eri in or was she just visiting Kota? I could go on forever), and not all the answers are absolutely necessary, but the more go unanswered, the less satisfied I will feel, so it's good I got a lot of that after the fact at least. That some things are left kinda vague I can live with, like how exactly did Hero Society change, other than crime went down, Heroes are branching out and lessening in numbers, support items are getting better everyday and civilians are taking more personal responsability? What about the Doomsday Theory? That sort of thing is fine by me, but I was really attached to these characters and this world for a long time, I am still, so I need to know what Shinso's Hero Name ended up being, or what everyone's Hero Ranking is, who went independent and who became a sidekick, or what subject Deku even teaches?! Like, I loved a lot of the concepts from the final chapter but was a little letdown by the execution. Take teacher Deku, that's awesome, I love it, but I also wanted to see that in action, what does a day in the life of Deku-sensei look like? What does he teach? Will he quit now and become a full time Hero or do that on the side? But I also get that there wasn't really room for everything I wanted to see here, like Uraraka's confession. She wasn't in the right headspace for Romance last episode, and there isn't really a fitting place to squeeze it in this one, but I did wanna see where that whole thread ultimately went. What do you mean, it's 8 years later and they still aren't a thing? Please explain! And to be fair, he did, I'm so glad that will also be adapted! And who knows, maybe I'll get my other wish and there will be a Deku-sensei novel and one fleshing out those two years we didn't see, fingers crossed! Overall, I really prefer the Anime ending, and MHA will go down as one of my all time favorite stories ever, it's really important to me! So glad I went on this journey with you, it was very rewarding and I'm looking forward to that wrap up you're working on, watching Vigilantes with you and the hopefully eventual rewatch down the line! All the best for 2026!

2026-01-07 02:35:11 +0000 UTCThank you! And it's funny you mention that 😂 One of the most interesting sensations so far has been, when it was just me to think about I never gave much thought to the everyday risks around me, now I see them everywhere! I liked this show from the very beginning, and the WAY I liked it got much deeper and how much it means to me only grew greater with time :D Who could have thought at the beginning (whether or manga or anime) what it would turn into and how much it would mean to people. I agree, it's impossible to try to accurately summarize or send off this show in a way that feels sufficient to capture that weight. So I think in the spirit of the show the only way we can do is to carry the "ember" with us into the future.

2026-01-07 01:25:29 +0000 UTCThe show is over... but like it said: our story continues on! Go Beyond! I wanted to do like a little series write-up here but I literally can't. It means TOO MUCH to me to even begin to unwrap in the format of a single comment, but I think you touched on a lot of it well here, it was a joy re-experiencing this series with you. When you first started all that time ago I was honestly paranoid you wouldn't like it for some reason haha, I don't even remember why I thought that. I was pretty young at the time, just paranoid about my favorite reactor hating my favorite show I guess, but boy how wrong I was. Oh and congrats/best of luck with the little one on the way! Sleepless nights incoming! That's awesome though seriously, I think you'll be a pretty cool dad, going on adventures and stuff. No trying to swim to far away islands with them on your back though please, that story gave me so much anxiety when you first told it lol

2026-01-06 23:40:17 +0000 UTCThe Heteromorph thing is mostly because of how poorly s5 was adapted a lot was left out.

2026-01-06 23:38:20 +0000 UTCI absolutely love this series and its ending. I only have 2 nitpicks that I wish could have been handled better: 1) The heteromorph discrimination subplot which was never brought up until the final war arc, so it was difficult to believe it was a serious issue if it never presented itself before in the series. 2) The little hints at romance that went unresolved until the mangaka added an extra chapter. This series would have been more than perfect if those 2 were given more time to be fleshed out. I still love everything else about it though. Thank you for your insights as always. It's been a pleasure to be on this journey with you.

2026-01-06 06:01:36 +0000 UTCThank you for sharing this incredible fun watch along! I've been watching since ATLA, and am grateful to still be able to enjoy and watch along! MHA was the show that got me back into anime, and I love seeing how inspirational and meaningful it is to everyone! Happy New Year Alex! Congrats on child to come and wishing another year full of growth and great memories

2026-01-06 05:59:55 +0000 UTCNooo, look what they did to my boy! That aside, I also love that touch. - It's probably a factor of the peace of the moment. They can focus on other things besids fighting. - it speaks to them looking to do something of value that they care about as opposed to getting attention - on a meta level, there were a lot of people involved in the production of the story, both horizontally and vertically. The next generation adores the students of the show we watched, who if asked, would themselves name other influences before them :D

2026-01-06 04:07:31 +0000 UTCI noticed the song later! Great choice. Also I'm gonna tell my kids that the rave was the 2nd school festival. I wonder what the author drew on to write this story with so much clarity. Bikes were the best

2026-01-06 04:07:24 +0000 UTCI want to say thank you for loving this series, I found your channel when My hero was having a really rough patch in the anime and a lot of people online was ripping it apart. It was really hard to discuss the show then. Finding your channel and seeing your insight and appreciation revived my enjoyment for this series again. This ending is really perfect for me. I love in the last part of the episode, it didn't matter how small their achievements were, it was still shown as something to be proud of. Kirishima calendar being sold out and Momo internationally doing research and projects can be shown together and you would be proud for both of them. Unfortunately, for your boy, Mineta. This little bit of info was given in the Hero Analysis book that come out after the manga ended but in there, Mineta is said to be laying low because he is in hot water for potentially messaging fans inappropriately

2026-01-06 04:01:10 +0000 UTCI can't say I've ever been following you specifically for your MHA reactions but I had the interest from the start as I had already seen the first 5 seasons pretty much before. Probably what I appreciated myself mostly watching the show back then was the great animation and creative powers mostly but I must say I respect you so much for being able to get so much thoughtful and meaningful discussion out of a show which to many would seem quite simple and surface level. I don't think I would have had the interest or motivation necessarily to finish this show if not for these reactions and I would say it was 100% worth the experience these past almost 5 years. A lot has happened for sure.

2026-01-06 03:31:36 +0000 UTCNow to just wait for May for the OVA ending and Season 2 of Vigilantes! (Still hoping for Yu Yu Hakusho to fill a Shonen slot someday lol)

2026-01-06 03:21:50 +0000 UTCOne last music thing for the road (until May and Vigilantes probably but still). We may not have gotten that second festival, but at 13:32 we get to hear Jiro’s “Hero Too” one last time. It still doesn’t feel real that this show has ended. I started watching sometime after season 4 came out, and liked it enough then to look for reactions, which led me here. Years later through the videos and the many comments I’ve read, as well as deciding to read the manga, I’ve come to love this show more than I ever thought I would. There are few pieces of media I’ve consumed that have remained so thematically strong and consistent over such a long run, but MHA is undoubtedly one of them. And if I haven’t mentioned it enough, Yuki Hayashi’s score is top tier, and will forever be one of my favorite soundtracks. Anyway, back to 1988 to manage some real estate and throw bikes into people.
