Yeah I guess I'll just have to read about what happened with Ishigame and Tsubame 😂 Even as an anime only watcher I can feel that a lot of the throw away lines are references to entire arcs... Like the battle with Hayasaka she casually mentions. But yeah happy for what we got, still a lot of fun and I think a nice progression overall.

It’s a little frustrating because everything they choose to adapt is so perfectly done. I’ll be scratching my head for a while wondering why they decided to not do a true season four. As I’m sure you’ve noticed between this episode and the next, there are some missing pieces. Unfinished arcs and storylines to wrap everything up and put a bow on it. It’s bittersweet. I would love for anime only’s to see how the New Year’s party between Ishigami and Tsubame went. There’s loads of Hayasaka story that was supposed to further develop her character. An entire arc teased in season two with the immortality portion that we won’t see adapted. I can still watch the special and appreciate it for what it is after already reading the manga years ago but I know a lot of people will miss out on some of the best parts of the series. Even after getting that all out of the way, I was so happy watching the special and could not physically stop laughing. It’s good to be back to at least get some of the important remaining story beats out there. I’m really interested to see what the anime original (retconned ending/future) movie will be as it is apparently an idea conjured up by the author.
