Comment Unpopular Cartoon Network Opinions, pls!
Added 2025-02-20 14:42:49 +0000 UTCSo, I think for this month’s FaceCam video, I’m gonna do another one of those videos where I react to everyone’s unpopular opinions again since it seems like everyone liked that last time.
So please, comment your Cartoon Network related hot takes! On any shows, episodes, characters, music, anything! I’ll let you know if you’re right or wrong lol
I’ll be accepting hot takes from now until tomorrow (February 21st, 2025) @ 12pm EST and please, no more than two takes per person! I wanna make sure I get to everyone!
Peace!

2025-02-21 21:25:05 +0000 UTCYou know what, let me change my second one. I actually think that Fosters is legitimate dogshit. Like, being a mean spirited show is one thing, but marketing it toward really young children (i.e, those 3 damn leapfrog products) and saying it's a heartfelt show when it really isn't and BRAINWASHING the creator into thinking Bloo can't change. I'm sorry that's going to far. This show can burn in hell and so can those fucking executives.

2025-02-21 00:56:22 +0000 UTC1. The Yes! era was annoying, sure, but the visuals are nice and those like ytpmv bumpers (https://youtu.be/X1gBEUeD6i8?si=pphaF85faLCTZw5r) went crazy. 2. This is probably not news to Tariq considering he has to read YouTube comments-- but it confuses me how so many cartoon fans, and especially CN fans, are some of the most pretentious, joyless motherfuckers on the planet. Things have gotten better since the like 2012 Rantsona days I think but I still catch people being genuinely angry when the children's cartoon is childish and cartoony. Pleeease get some real problems.

2025-02-20 23:59:10 +0000 UTCI say this as someone born in 1990: 00’s and 2010’s CN clear 90’s CN and it isn’t close. Every time that “CN Generations” image is going around the comments are flooded with how bad they fell off. 90’s lineup was HARD carried by PPG and Dexter.

2025-02-20 23:18:42 +0000 UTCThe main show that kept CN afloat during the era of 2008-2011 when the network was obsessed with cheap live action programming and Canadian import cartoons was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. As someone in the 10-13 demographic at that time, it felt like there was nothing else on the network as interesting or well produced as it before Adventure Time eventually filled that void on the network.

2025-02-20 22:20:31 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to verbal jokes Ed Edd n Eddy is about on par Looney Tunes, and when it comes to slapstick Ed Edd n Eddy is about on par with Tom and Jerry i would even say it can be better than both at times (but this could be a more subjective thing since I fw EEnEs characters more)

2025-02-20 21:52:43 +0000 UTC1) an Ed Edd n Eddy reboot wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. The cast clearly still loves the characters, and I believe with the right crew behind it, it could be done.

2025-02-20 19:33:50 +0000 UTC1. rose was outta pocket for how she expected pearl to keep her secrets instead of using the truth as her main weapon in the gem rebellion 2. if more miniseries like over the garden wall & long live the royals were greenlit the channel might still have something to bring in/back viewers instead of good shows gettin 5 seasons (if theyre lucky) before bein treated like ol yeller (cant wait for hey btw)

2025-02-20 19:16:40 +0000 UTC-Scrappy Doo did nothing wrong. It was the decisions at the time that screwed things up (giving Scrappy traits of Fred, Daphne and Velma while also writing them out for a time, repetitive and bad writing, and making him the lead was the biggest mistake). For proof of Scrappy done well, see the Direct to Video trilogy among the Superstar 11 (Boo Brothers, Ghoul School and Reluctant Werewolf). -Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf is hilarious and trashy.

2025-02-20 18:50:30 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to the best Cartoon Network show of all time, some people think Adventure Time or Regular Show, while others say Powerpuff Girls or Dexter's Labratory. But to me, The Amazing World of Gumball plays to Cartoon Network's strengths the most. It's got the laughs, it's got the heart, and it has a bunch of phenomenal animation styles. Now, I'll admit, the first season is pretty weak, but the seasons after that are insanely likeable.
INoahGuy
2025-02-20 18:45:44 +0000 UTCPeople really hated that SU/Uncle Grandpa crossover, but Gumball is the nastier, much more caustic show from that time period. UG and SU can both be very silly which is why that crossover works

2025-02-20 18:42:19 +0000 UTCI think Ed, Edd, n Eddy is overrated. It really didn't make me laugh that much, and I didn't like the animation style. People keep saying that it's one of the greatest Cartoon Network shows of all time, and I personally don't see it.

2025-02-20 18:41:45 +0000 UTCWhoever in the company of Cartoon Network said that they don't need action cartoons must've been one spiteful crackheaded bastard because there were some really good ones that WEREN'T on Toonami! I know that campy cartoons like the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory and some episodes of Samurai Jack are more of your thing, but for me, Justice League, Young Justice, Generator Rex, Thundercats (2010) and Symbionic Titan were SO damn good that I'd talk about them for hours! They have NO business getting rid of the action cartoons in the first place!! Also, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited wasn't serious 100% of the time. I remember you and ReviewYaLife hated it because it wasn't campy, but I do recall moments where there was some really funny moments. Particularly almost any interactions with Wally West (aka The Flash) or even Green Arrow's spectacular entrance where he's freaking SINGING his theme song!

2025-02-20 18:28:13 +0000 UTCThe idea of serialization vs episodic shows REALLY stems from Cartoon Network's 20210s era. While I understand those qualms, I always hated the notion that one was objectively superior to another. Some shows should be episodic, some should be story driven, some should be both. The idea that you either enjoy one or the other is really stupid imo. Anyway I think CN's peak was whenever they had a good amount of BOTH. More general ones: SU hate is really forced and not very nuanced AT was never bad Regular Show is my personal sliiight least favorite of the ren-era

2025-02-20 17:36:24 +0000 UTC1.I honestly didn’t mind the more filler centric episodes of Steven universe, a break from the main plot to cool off for a bit is always appreciated 2. 2025-02-20 16:50:55 +0000 UTCDespite it clashing with the channel's main purpose, CN Real's programming was not *that* bad...or at the very least, Destroy Build Destroy and Dude, What Would Happen were alright ^^;
Note
2025-02-20 16:46:22 +0000 UTCOkay, hottest take I have: most of the people complaining about one show dominating the schedule don’t understand a thing about programming and probably don’t watch cable. Most adults watch everything online, and older shows and variety doesn’t retain viewers between 12pm to 6pm. Cable is a dying medium, so TTG and SpongeBob are the only shows on because that’s what makes bank. It’s gotten better in the last few years but still. Some +30 year old will complain some peak show isn’t on TV, when the only people watching are 3. They don’t know peak, they just learned shapes. People are hating the player, not the game.

2025-02-20 16:04:20 +0000 UTCThunder cats roar was overhated. People were treating this show like it’s the new Teen Titans Go. Like one of the biggest criticisms of the show was that the animation is bad because the characters squash and stretch all the time.
WantedMinion
2025-02-20 16:03:30 +0000 UTCTeen Titans Go and the Ben 10 reboot are good, I’m glad little kids have their own version of these characters that they can look back on fondly and will hopefully get the chance to reinterpret for their own kids some day, just as those who grew up with originals did. Also, the Season 5 episodes of Steven Universe that weren’t about the overarching plot were good too, people were hatin’ ‘cause of the terrible release schedule (and because the term “filler” escaped from the anime community.)

2025-02-20 15:46:39 +0000 UTCI never really liked how stiff Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Labs' animation was. I like more when cartoons are regularly animated with actual timing, and antic and that other good shit. Like Billy and Mandy, Pepper Ann, early Family Guy, Ni Hao Kai Lan etc. I think the posing on PPG and DL is very good and strong, but everything else about it (aside from the backgrounds) is...eh.

2025-02-20 15:31:26 +0000 UTC1. Cartoon Network’s shift to a slightly older audience around 2010-12 should’ve stuck around for a bit longer, that teen audience is something that is often overlooked and CN at that time seemed to be the only place where those types of series could be found for animation 2. The noods era (08-10) has its issues, many of them but overall that time period was still pretty good in terms of new content and reruns! on top of the branding style they had it was pretty fun, of course it’s not CN city but it definitely deserves some praise even if CN real happened during that time, felt experimental to me at least

2025-02-20 15:19:08 +0000 UTC1. If Cartoon Network was able to give Samurai Jack a final season and post it on Tsunami then what is stopping them from doing it with Sym Bionic Titan? 2. I believe Cartoon Network should’ve made a preschool section for all of their kid shows like We Baby Bears and Jessica’s Big Little World. Kinda like how Disney had playhouse Disney and nick had noggin
Bee Askew
2025-02-20 15:08:54 +0000 UTCOut of the big 3 channels, Cartoon Network probably was handled the worst as the streaming age has continued. From shows being shoved off the service for no reason other than greed to cartoons getting cancelled despite their overwhelming popularity, Warner Bros has truly had a generational fumble with their brand.

2025-02-20 15:07:02 +0000 UTCI know it'd be difficult but Cartoon Network should bring back CN city with "modern" characters. From 2010 onwards

2025-02-20 14:48:51 +0000 UTC1. Summer Camp Island deserves as much love as some of CN's most acclaimed shows of all time. 2. I am not against CN producing preschool cartoons. I think in an ideal world, they'd be able to co-exist with the usual fare no problem, and I am genuinely interested in some of the ones we're getting. The problem lies entirely in the corporate-wide context.
