This episode was so awesome! I could just rewatch it over and over! It's the other side of the Toga/Uraraka coin for me: That was the emotional high point, this is pure hype with really strong underlying full-circle themes and symbolism. Bakugou's arc is just phenomenal, I think it might be my personal favorite piece of writing in MHA. Just, when I think about me hating his guts in Season 1, to now cheering him on while he trash talks AfO and violently blows him to pieces (which are some of the things I didn't like about him back then) ...because it's so, so different now, it's beautiful. I think this is also my favorite Shonen Rivalry ever. Or the fact that this is one "fake out" death that totally works, on every level: Him actually dying and the whole rebirth symbolism, reviving him taking a long time and Edgeshot's sacrifice, that he was both taken out and revived by his own quirk, what he comes back to do... Perfection.

2025-11-05 02:13:26 +0000 UTCThank you :D Yeah can't really ask for much more. I also felt watching this episode that it hits a rare level on the "payoff" scale. There are all these dense, intertwined layers behind the events of this episode that every time I check comments I learn something new.

2025-11-05 02:10:45 +0000 UTCAndor gets recommended a lot and has been on a few polls I think. So it's on my radar and is possible eventually

2025-11-05 02:08:36 +0000 UTCLol something about the placement and delivery of the line is funny. I do like that it comes back around with AFO saying the winds are not blowing his way or something like that

2025-11-05 02:07:49 +0000 UTCBro you're awesome, I can't wait until the next episode to hear your thoughts. So many BANGER quotes from you on this one, like always. This episode was damn near perfect in my opinion.

2025-11-04 17:26:50 +0000 UTCOff topic, but would there be a possiblity of star wars works like clone wars to Andor? That'll probably take dedicated amount of time for it but I feel that there maybe be themes that could be discussed there.

2025-11-04 17:05:24 +0000 UTCI think Bakugo's metamorphosis is really well illustrated by the flashback of him saying he'll surpass all might without his help, very shortly followed by All Might (literally) giving him a hand and Bakugo smiling of all things! Edit: Not to mention him and deku springing to action before they have a chance to think in order to save someone (I think it might've been mentioned as a definition of... good-person-ism? something along those lines) Edit 2: "That pestulent little f... irecracker. He's like a COCKroach that just won't die." Tell us how you really feel, jeez Edit 3: I know the original Gear Shift holder somewhat resembles Bakugo physically, but him flashing back to his face for a moment when Bakugo just appeared before All For One is a very nice touch on getting us to understand that Bakugo is going just as fast as someone with a quirk that is literally just SPEED: The Quirk. Edit 4: Ah, I should've finished the episode. Looks like it's more than just one parallel, it's three! In a trenchcoat! I guess that's more like a prism... Edit 5 (boy, that's a lot of edits): The fact that Gear Shift dude was the second holder of All For One is actually really interesting, because there was no power to stockpile at that point, he was just a guy who saved AFO's brother. Must be cathartic for him, seeing this

2025-11-04 06:07:05 +0000 UTCOh yes, the best episode of the decade, i just love how the climax of his arc even though he is defeating someone like he always wanted, it is primarily saving someone.

2025-11-04 05:57:55 +0000 UTCYeah and maybe even a rebirth for the world! End of the old and beginning of the new, very phoenix like

2025-11-04 04:34:52 +0000 UTCThat's really nice to hear. MHA is a show beyond shows... It focuses so deeply on symbols, or which it itself is one. And so the ideals create what sometimes feels like a demand, and since truth is something that exists whether or not the vehicle is fictional, it transfers itself into life in ways that are difficult to ignore
Alex G
2025-11-04 04:30:26 +0000 UTCSpeaking of being reborn, I really see bakugos "death" as a metaphor for the old bakugo dying and the new better and changed bakugo being born.

2025-11-04 04:30:12 +0000 UTCAh yes the episode that was rated a 9.8 on imdb. The goat has returned. Bakugo really had his gojo "I alone am the explosive one" moment here

2025-11-04 04:21:34 +0000 UTCHonestly, for me, My Hero has definitely been a show that I have mixed feelings about, due in no small part to the fact that I started it in highschool, and am still watching it basically a decade later. Its big moments can still really make me feel something because of the time I’ve invested into seeing what happens next. However, your experience with the show and how it has connected with you has made me appreciate it in a unique way because of how its message of ripples of inspiration can form into something greater. Basically, the way your are inspired by show, in a weird way, has inspired me more than the show 😅

2025-11-04 03:55:22 +0000 UTCIt's a toss up between this fight (Bakugo vs AFO) and the Armored All Might vs All For One fight for my favorite battle of the series. Both of them are apotheosis moments for the characters. I just love these characters so much... they've had to fight tooth and nail to refine their ideals to even get to this point of standing here. It's so satisfying to see them both reach this ultimate level of unstoppable hope where it's like they don't even see what's in front of them anymore, they just see what CAN be if they fight for it and believe in it.

2025-11-04 03:14:39 +0000 UTCBut man has Endeavor tried 😂 It almost feels like a deliberate "you're not getting off that easy" by the writing. I can imagine an alternative story where All Might dies that would serve the show. And that would be what I mentioned early in the episode about how, in keeping with the MHA spirit, the reaction to All Might's death would be different than the villains expect. But I don't think it's necessary cause it's been demonstrated in a thousand different ways already, and Bakugo saving him is way more powerful and useful from a narrative perspective IMO

2025-11-04 03:08:00 +0000 UTCThis is probably my most anticipated reaction since i read this chapter last year lol

2025-11-04 02:55:41 +0000 UTCThe part where All Might is dreaming of Nighteye made me think about one of my least favorite tropes, redemption through death, and how MHA consistently makes the right calls and does it better. Not that All Might was a candidate in this case, but someone like Endeavor absolutely was. In fact, one of my biggest issues in a lot of media is when characters die that absolutely didn’t need to, only to serve the plot or further beat down the characters, (this was my biggest issue with JJK season 2 btw). The opposite can of course also be a problem, and MHA at times has had this issue, though I don’t think it’s as bad as some people have said, i.e. Gran Torino not dying during season 6. People will often argue that death is needed for there to be any stakes, but I firmly disagree with this. Beyond that, with redemption through death, it often feels like death is used as an easy out for the character, so they don’t have to continue to live and improve themselves. There were so many moments they could have chosen to kill Endeavor, but I find it much more compelling to have him live, to continue to atone and improve himself. Then with All Might, you could absolutely have had him die here, and a lesser story might have done that, but by now what would be the point? What would it even serve the story to have him die now? There’s just so much more that can be done when you give your character a chance to live on. And none of this is to say I dislike it when characters die in media, it just should matter when they do, and MHA often nails this.

2025-11-04 02:55:08 +0000 UTCIt felt natural to me that he would go for Shiggy first, but not exactly sure why. Trying to think about it now, personally I can be really calm when working on something for a long time that I really want, and then the greatest panic occurs when the end goal is ALMOST in my hands. More relevant to AFO, I think he is rattled and emotional, but that comes out as panic for grasping the power more than it does revenge or symbolism
Alex G
2025-11-04 02:55:05 +0000 UTCOh that's interesting. I just assumed they were just setting something up with Lady Nagant, but that makes sense and is really nice. Bakugo is a great extension of this whole idea I think. His obsession with "catching up" or "surpassing" feels like a totally different thing now. He's just as worthy of being here, and it didn't require luck or lineage or being the chosen one or any of those things and is here, like Edgeshot said, because of what he's worked so hard to develop (his powers but also more). So his explosion and return as a whole is an awesome representation of the plurality of their heroism, in a very flashy and indignant Bakugo way
Alex G
2025-11-04 02:49:33 +0000 UTCAlso i was curious, were you surprised that AFO actually left all might alone to go to shiggy? AFO has always been emotion when dealing with all might but especially now with rewind and shiggys hate, he has hardly been acting rationally so I was pretty shocked when he was able to pull himself way, after all mights life was inches from the taking

2025-11-04 02:43:47 +0000 UTCI wanted to know you thoughts on an idea I’ve been kicking around, that you talking about all mights death kinda help round out. I was wondering why they had the lady negant scene, of her seeing Bakugos explosions besides it being cool af. I think it was to show that the all might model was over with, that everyone was going to shoulder some weight, as you said, a web not a single point. Rock lock on a tactical level is 100% right, that deku is their best chance to beat shiggy and we have to place our hopes on him, but on a more spiritual level I think both rock lock and nagant were starting to treat deku as the next all might, that next singular point holding the world, with nagant thinking back to deku reaching out his hand and hoping he beats shiggy. But bakugos explosion figuratively blasts those thoughts out of her mind and literally puts a new light in her eyes. That other driven people can also help hold up the world. I think that fits very well into the story of MHA, because if Deku becomes that new point, sure things will be great for awhile but this will all happen again. Sure it might not be with quirks pasted through generations but the few places the light of the symbol of peace don’t shine, will grow darker and darker until another war kicks off

2025-11-04 02:31:52 +0000 UTCThis episode we got to see some amazing animation by Vincent chansard who did a couple of cuts for this episode he also did some work in season 5 but it was most likely cut because of preduction time here’s a video of his cut and what we got: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8DDtthd/ This is Some of his past work the one you probably know out of all of them is the Sakuna vs Mahoraga Fight he mainly does a lot of work on one piece and he even stated after doing the animation for the Sakuna bs Mahoraga fight that he would never work with mappa again and he also tweeted out after this episode came out and said he only did this episode of mha because his friend asked him to do a cut or two among other things: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8DU8Y81/ Here is the tweet he posted: https://x.com/sparkleredpanda/status/1979482330361475465?s=46&t=qgI_pEFRbyaq2Hu9Fj6vdQ TBH The panel I was most excited to see adapted this episode was The Bakugo smiling at all might panel, it's just so nice to see him as his softer self even when he was thanking edgeshot for keeping him alive he was very nice to him

2025-11-04 02:31:30 +0000 UTCIn the Deku vs Bakugo fight in season 3 Deku says his image of victory is so closely tied to Bakugo that he starts acting like him and in this episode Kudo says that he shouldn’t use gearshift until he has a clear moment to win and Deku doesn’t hesitate to use it on Bakugo I also think for them to “win” the world needs to see all might get the symbol of peace saved by the next generation of heroes, also its crazy that the scene of Bakugo understanding the whole pain thing and the beautiful animation of the inside of his body was one panel in the manga and they turned it into that beautiful animation of little sweat explosions! (Also fyi him saying kacchan bakugo isn't him declaring a new hero name or anything he is still great explosion murder god dynamight or just Dynamight, i think its a similir thing to how deku took the name bakugo gave him and bakugo is kinda doing the same maybe?)
