To me it makes total sense why Maomao would continue to hang out with Xiaolan and treat her like a younger sister. She seems to like genuine/endearing people a lot, and once she sees that someone isn't a hardass/pretentious, she becomes comfortable with them. This includes her fellow ladies in waiting, Loumen, the quack doctor, and Jinshi once she discovers his "immature" true self. She likes nice people lol, which shouldn't be this big thing to me, but a lot of people tend to attach themselves to those who don't treat them nicely. Its cool to see Maomao listen to her own vibe-check.

Obviously, y'know, he's the most important - but you've already won a good chunk of his favor in the first place if you're one of the four royal consorts. So I think the main tipping balance of favor is A) being able to bear a male heir, and B) being able to gain the support of the royal court in general. That's what the ladies in waiting and the buying of clothes are geared towards, it isn't so much sex appeal as it is an appeal of wealth and influence towards any potential political allies - both in the Inner Palace and outside of it.

The bread crumbs thrown in these shows is not enough, cause come on, at this point I don't care about the plot, I just want beach episodes and pointless training arcs.

To be fair, this year has been unusually good for games that are right up my alley. I don’t buy new releases often, but this year I’ve bought and played on or near release, Elden Ring Nightreign, Deltarune, Clair Obscur, Silksong, Hades 2, Blue Prince, and Ghost of Yōtei. And I replayed The Last of Us Part 2 when you were watching the show. Anyway, please keep mentioning Yakuza 0, as clearly I seem incapable of actually starting it. I think Ghost of Yōtei is the last game this year I was interested in though, so I think I’ll actually be playing it soon, for real this time.
