2025-10-12 05:52:36 +0000 UTCYair is such a good contrast to Olivia and Farhad from the last episode, the other extreme of UI existence, where one can cut out parts of themselves like their memories in order to cut off their humanity and completely weaponize themselves, moving themselves closer to truly become more of a machine then a person, compared to the shared memory aspect Olivia and Farhad possessed to both transcend human tribalism but also gain an even greater understanding of ones humanity by experiencing it fully with others. Really makes you think 🤔

2025-10-12 02:47:47 +0000 UTCYeah I think people would definitely bring their existing beliefs with them into UI. Then over time, considering both how crazy it is and how untethered it is to actual physical territory, I imagine those priorities would shift dramatically into some other paradigm

2025-10-12 02:07:07 +0000 UTCAlso not to get political though it was covered in the episode, I do find it impressive how they go about about a character like Yair focusing more on his universal human traits that led him into his decisions which then aligned him with choosing his side. Obviously this show isn't about the geopolitics of the middle east but considering how sensitive topic it can be I think it was handled very respectfully here. It also leads into that primal human aspect of tribalism/nationalism whatever you like to call it where sure you can say "what do countries matter to uis?" but their world is still one built off the evolution and history of ours and the people developing the technology allowing for their existence and what people groups were developing said technology. You can't entirely say there couldn't be any bias of that sort built in at a fundamental level atleast if the uis still stay in some way recognizably human with pasts of being human.
