21/24 Season 1 episodes. Feels like we just started yesterday!

Surprisingly, there's not much to say regarding this episode. It's pretty straightforward, all things considered. You could possibly see this as an analogy for how both the Palace and the Pleasure District are intertwining from Maomao and her actions, but I personally don't think it's worth scrutinizing very much. This could also just be a great character building episode for Lihaku to us viewers. We get to see where his moral compass points and how he approaches obstacles. At least, as far as matters of the heart. I think it's worth acknowledging that he wasn't willing to be bought and willing to go about things the more legitimate, but also more time consuming way, considering he turned down Jinshi's offer to just have the money(which we don't know if there would be a debt or favor that Lihaku would have to make good on later down the line for Jinshi). I almost completely forgot about our favorite quack doctor! We even get a bit of backstory regarding how and why he's in the Rear Palace as well as his family's situation. But yes, as shown in Maomao's quick example to give the quack a solution to his family's current issue just went over his head until she explained it a bit more simply to him. I like how that shows how Maomao not only thinks normally, but also that she can make things more simplified if necessary to help others understand and comprehend without directly giving the answer or solution. Also, BLUE ROSES!

A lesser man would have been more threatened by Lihaku after seeing his upstanding nature 😂

Jinshi puts Likahu through the test and learns a lot about him in the process. It might stem from jealousy, but Jinshi said Likahu got his position thanks to Lakan, which could have meant he's a plant meant to spy or worm his way into Jinshi's good graces (or to keep an eye on Maomao). If Jinshi was able to "buy" him, that would have said one thing (that Lihaku is buyable), but the reason he said, "No thanks," told Jinshi that Lihaku 1) has no interest in Maomao at all, 2) his honor is not for sale (or at least his loyalty to Lakan is stronger), and 3) he would be a good man to have on Jinshi's side if ever needed. Only Jinshi gets to call Maomao his cat, lol. "Maomao" does mean "cat" in Chinese, so it's not just referring to her as a pet or something. She is very cat-like, as we've seen many times - and terrible at explaining things.
