2025-07-11 17:23:06 +0000 UTCI knew there had to be Invincible crossovers here. Aside from just their houses looking like mirrored versions of each other

2025-07-11 06:30:26 +0000 UTCYeah this episode laid the groundwork for so many interesting things! Though I've only seen through the next episode so no idea what that is 😂 I wholeheartedly agree with the issues you raised. Putting aside the consciousness or sentient life element of it, I think increased optimization can always be good in terms of raising the bar of potential, but the missed element of potential is that it then has to be realized and actually used well. It's a tool or a means to an end and the end is still the most important thing. As humans that will probably be the fundamental things we've always known to be important. And those things have to be nurtured and safeguarded just like always and not thrown away for the lesser goal of "optimization" or something like that. Yesterday I met someone who loves ham radios. That's something that I'm guessing doesn't have a lot of modern world marketability, but he enjoys it and that's enough. So there's thankfully still room for that sort of joyful enterprise even if AI eliminates the necessity. In fact in the best case it leaves someone like him more time and freedom to explore that passion. The fact that they used money as a linking idea here was great. Because money itself is that sort of "the thing once removed" relationships.

2025-07-10 16:54:24 +0000 UTCThat voice at the beginning of the episode should be familiar cause the voice actor for him is Chris Diamantopoulos who voice’s Donald in Invincible

2025-07-10 06:41:59 +0000 UTCMan. So much of what is covered in this show feels almost too relevant these days. Like the whole conversation you had on the usage of UI's for profit. First off that would essentially be digital slave labour and also very difficult to control something or someone with access to unlimited data like that. I love science and technology but there's a primal part of me that gets really uncomfortable with the questions brought up by advanced computing and ai. Like should we as a species really always be focused on increased productivity and optimization of everything. That seems like a soulless way of viewing the world. And then with having ui's and ai's and so forth you end up with the pandoras box dilemma of never being able to return to the simpler world where they didn't exist without having to ignore that they are indeed sentient life potentially. I in the way I live my life would prefer it if even with increasingly evolving technology we could be able to keep a clear line between the virtual and the real, the technological and the natural such that we don't end up forgetting the simpler moments of life that come with struggling and taking time on things instead of the instant gratification of optimization. Like even if an ai/ui could completely do your job it seems unfair to the people who might actually enjoy their work in the tediousness and small things of it to have to get replaced by cold machinery. Obviously I would love to keep a nuanced view on these things but how much the matters discussed in this show seep into my everyday anxieties about the future it's hard to do so. Discounting all that though, it's amazing to me how well executed the delivery of information in this first episode is in hindsight as someone having seen the whole show twice already. Get ready for some very mind blowing things to happen that will have you questioning the most fundamental aspects of humanity, consciousness and the nature of reality itself
