2025-07-05 21:35:15 +0000 UTCBadeni's demonstration reminded me of a video I watched were a guy explained area of a circle using Pi and quadratic equations by using simple logic and drawing shapes rather than formulae. Because that's how ancient people worked on and explained those things, by drawing on sand with a stick.

2025-07-05 20:53:21 +0000 UTCYou mentioned the question of what would have existed before the big bang. I would say my own most reasonable argument as someone who mostly thinks of these things through the lens of the physics of it is the concept of "before" can't really be applied there. If you think of time less as a thing that exists and more as something you observe then what are you observing is more so something happening over time. Time itself doesn't really happen as something you can observe. If we consider the big bang as the beginning of the universe then if there's no universe then there isn't really anything to observe to make time a meaninful thing. The only reasonable way to say it is there is no time without the universe but without time there is no concept of "before" to discuss something being "before" the universe if that makes any sense. I think that's mostly the view of contemporary physics on the matter atleast.

2025-07-04 15:21:44 +0000 UTCSpeaking of "Planetes" that's actually the name of a hard scifi anime series that came out in the early 2000s based on a manga by Makoto Yukimura who you might recognize for his later work Vinland Saga. It's about an ecclectic group of co-workers on an orbiting space station in the late 21st century who's job it is to clean up space debris. It's very well made and one of my favorite anime with a great dub too and some of the best music out there. It's also only one season of around 26 episodes kind of like orb here so I think it'd be right up your alley. I'm not sure it's been mentioned before. What I love about "Planetes" really is how it doesn't shy away from the political and physically/mentally constraining realities behind the space industry and space exploration while still maintaining a nuanced and non pessimistic view on the future potential of humanity if you let love prevail over hatred.

2025-07-04 05:47:59 +0000 UTCThe ending scene of this episode always makes me tear up, it just mean so much to me and also I believe to people around the world that, who knows, might be struggling with the same fears that Oczy had on placing ANY faith in this world as we witness things spiral into chaos and destruction. “Perhaps the world we live in has always been part of that beauty up there” and “The Heavens and Earth are One” are lines that mean so much to me. It mirrors my faith in that we strive to live to our utmost and search for universal truth in our mortal lives on this corrupt world — precisely because Heaven is supposed to be the ultimate fulfillment of the hints of goodness and truths we gather through living our lives on Earth. I won’t settle for anything less than that, and I believe that goes the same for many Christians around the world, too. Blind faith is also just as dangerous as a complete rejection of anything related to the spiritual purely out of the stigma that surrounds religion as a result of past sins and failures such as all the controlling dogma from the Church. If we were to place our hopes on things above and look at things from a vantage point of Eternity — the world we live in HAS to be part of that beauty up there in Heaven, so that we can carry the goodness and truths we’ve gathered to a place that brings all of that to life. Anything less than that wouldn’t be qualified as Heaven nor can satisfy the martyrs for truth over the Ages. Religion seeks to point at the natural laws and truths that laid down the foundations of this world, and if there really is anything universal at the beginning of time — it is our job as Humanity to seek and find it, step by step. Thanks again for this week, have a wonderful 4th of July! (If you still celebrate it overseas, of course LOL)

2025-07-04 05:43:51 +0000 UTCRumor has it that Badeni was named 'Basedeni' at birth, but the Church couldn't handle him spitting based facts, so they renamed him 'Badeni' because he made them look 'bad'. Source: I made it tf up 😂
