2025-06-30 13:28:45 +0000 UTC"Oczy" means "eyes" in Polish, which is obviously a very fitting name for that character, with all the ongoing themes of "being watched", "averting your gaze" and "looking for something". Speaking of names, "Nowak" is one of the most common Polish surnames and I think it's kinda funny that they gave this inquisitor guy such a generic name lol. I'm curious if it's intentional.

2025-06-28 13:30:03 +0000 UTCYeah. Concerning the orbital errors made by the astronomer guy, the bending and motion backwards is merely a fault caused by being an observer on earth which is also moving. When the earth and mars are at their closest on the same side of the sun earth orbits faster around the sun so it's kinda like you're in a car passing another car which makes that other car appear to move backwards relative to you. Of course on earth you can compare movement to a lot more things you can see like trees or signs or whatever so you wouldn't make such an error as easily to think the car you're passing at a higher velocity is traveling backwards or "retrograde" as is the term used in astronomy for such orbits. So that is basically a simplified explanation for why at a certain time when observing the orbit of mars it appears to somewhat stop and start to move backwards when viewed from the earth. Philosophically this brings up well the idea that you have to take your own inherent unalterable biases into account when viewing the world empirically. You can't make the earth orbit at the same speed as mars. You just have to understand the discrepancy and account for it. If the man had access to ancient greek writings by for example the astronomer Ptolemy he would be able to skip a lot of effort in understanding these things though of course Ptolemys writings were based around geocentrism.

2025-06-28 02:01:49 +0000 UTCThis is what I absolutely love about Orb. It sets up characters so quickly that you understand where they come from, what point they are in their life, and what their aspirations are within a few scenes or episodes. Absolutely amazing character writing. Most people will finish this anime and struggle to pick their favourite character because the cast is so stacked.
