Damn, best Episode of the Season! The emotional whiplash of going from Pop's time to shine, fun music time, to the high stakes fight between father and daughter really works for me? So proud of her, especially for debuting the Koichi song, a shame he has no idea! I also love how nuanced the Knuckleduster situation is, it's not all pretty, but that's what makes it so compelling to me. Regarding his role going forward: That's the question, right? I genuinely don't remember if he actually comes back or not, I just remember his presence still being felt in a number of ways... Curious to see if my hunch is right, or if I'm misremembering.

Admittedly, I have been counting the days until Hunter x Hunter makes its return in the manga form, but I am excited to see whatever comes next for this channel.

2025-06-26 05:56:22 +0000 UTCI managed to catch that later and I think it's an... odd... (irresponsible) choice to not include the lyrics in the dub version. It's clearly about Koichi, though he doesn't seem to notice

2025-06-26 05:55:58 +0000 UTCPop-Steps song was about Koichi wish you could have read the subtitles, these are the lyric: "The Rhythm of my beating heart won't stop" "so hold my hand tight" "you are my destiny" "I knew it straight away" "I can tell that's the way it is" "you don't remember me" "I can't forget that day" "you're forever a hero in my heart" "you're still my one and only hero "I only have to spot that hoodie" "Just wearing it make the courage well up inside you"

2025-06-26 05:54:43 +0000 UTCYou should look for the subs of Popโs song this episode. Kinda sweet once you realize what she was singing about

2025-06-26 05:52:07 +0000 UTCI'm surprised you didn't notice Giren from the main series, he's the guy the league of villains went to save in season 5 who was close to twice

2025-06-26 05:44:50 +0000 UTCLike with Koichi's mom, it's a difficult spot to be in. Projecting a bit, I would guess that there's also an element of his fear that isn't about her career or interests at all, it's that she's out there hanging out with who knows who doing who knows what. It's the end of their relationship as he knows it because she's transitioning into adulthood. I like that he's able to "step over the line" in so many ways. Crossing over to her point of view, entering into a new frontier of her life and their relationship, letting go of his safe space he fighting so unsuccessfully to pretend would exist forever, going above and beyond to help her, seeing that actually there is no line and that they're the same person when it comes to will and therefore breaking the boundaries of their enforced relationship dynamic to see her as an adult...

2025-06-26 04:06:14 +0000 UTCSo about the guy we see at the end of the episode, this isn't our first time seeing him in the show. He's the guy who approached Soga and his friends in episode one after they got beat up by Knuckledusterand he gave them Trigger. So Hachisuka wasn't the only one in Naruhata distributing and circulating Trigger to people. But onto the meat of the episode! While Koichi's our main character, he's taken a backseat for a while to allow not only Pop, but also Knuckle, to come to the forefront and flourish especially strong this episode! While we did keep swapping between the show and Knuckle's fight with Bee User and it was a bit of a pace breaker when it happened, I don't mind them doing it this way! They're separate but connected incidents happening at the same time and it helps to show, in my opinion, that everything that happens here is connected in one way or another. It's like a tight-knit community in a way where everybody knows everyone else. Pop had her time to shine on stage and it's a necessary step she needed to take to grow as an idol and pursue her dream. And like I mentioned last episode, it gives her a network of support and connections from those she worked alongside. As for Knuckleduster and Tamao, I appreciate how they handled this dynamic. It's the difficult balance a parent has to try and maintain or uphold for their child. Because it's very easy to spill over into being an overbearing helicopter protective parent or a parent that's coming from a more disciplined and strict style. It becomes a manifestation of the saying, "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." While Knuckle is trying to encourage Tama to think and consider her future long-term, it comes across as dismissive or neglectful towards her current interests, hobbies, and passions. Which is why him being able to confront and grapple with his mistakes with raising his daughter is so cathartic to me. It's a more supportive mindset instead of shutting down her path she wanted to choose. You could clearly draw comparison to Endeavor and his relationship with his children. Endeavor had the flaw of being stuck in his ways for far too long and being obsessive with trying to best All Might, that the aspects of his family life suffered in many places. Knuckle was willing to take that step over the line, while Endeavor was eventually forced to cross that line after the point of no return. I love that the Vigilantes anime came out, because now I'm able to express these thoughts on the series with people enjoying it as well! And if I could give a show suggestion, while I'm at it, perhaps you'd be interested in starting The Apothecary Diaries after season 1 of Vigilantes finishes. I think you'd like that show a lot!

2025-06-26 03:20:53 +0000 UTCIf you recall, Stain said that an exceptional hero is the one that steps over the line. Knuckleduster in that fight stepped over the line to beat Stain. He shows here again that while he isnโt entirely aligned with the All Might type of heroism, he still is one that will step over the line to reach others. Him overcoming his past cowardice to face his daughter is what saved them today.
