Now that I've finished your Re:Zero reactions, you NEED to watch Jobless Reincarnation. It is the progenitor of the isekai genre AND multiple characters go through a Subaru like arc, the whole series is basically "Hey, even these badass characters are human and have flaws and some are shitty but that's being human and they can all grow, change, and be redeemed" it's so damn good!!!

2025-09-09 10:36:35 +0000 UTCI'm just gonna say that Reinhard wasn't this happy during the talk. He was devastated after incident with Willhelm and Thereshia and Heinkel. Felt saw this so she wanted to give him something to do and even if she never would say it out loud, she wanted to accompany him, because she felt for him. (Badum-tss)

2025-05-24 16:23:01 +0000 UTCThat's really interesting to hear it's regarded as one of the weaker arcs! I wonder if maybe the format made some difference. Maybe it translates to screen better? And absolutely, there was a really nice collaboration feeling for me while I was watching the show. There are so many things I got from comments that greatly enhanced my appreciation, understanding, and experience. I'm extremely grateful :D I think I will do a Q&A, and also maybe take a short break since the schedule has been packed lately, so I will probably start Orb in 2-3 weeks. Looking forward to it!

2025-05-24 16:22:12 +0000 UTCI've been hearing that about season 4 and it's crazy to think about haha

2025-05-24 16:18:38 +0000 UTCThank you for reacting to re:zero. I tried re:zero once before and fell off around episode 3 as I just forgot about it and moved on to other things but when you started reacting to it I tried watching it again so I could keep up with your reactions. I ended up binging it all before the mid season break of season 3 and got impatient and bought the light novels. I’ve now read all the light novels that are translated and am reading the web novel and honestly it might just be my favourite series ever.

2025-05-23 17:18:18 +0000 UTCI’m just gonna assume that satiation is probably something like “eating to survive” which could explain why she’s so calm compared to the other two

2025-05-23 10:41:50 +0000 UTCYou now get to experience the emptiness the rest of us experience, waiting for a new season of Re:Zero. Alas, unlike season one after it finished airing, we already know season 4 is on the way. Stay strong 💪

2025-05-23 10:17:09 +0000 UTCI remember when I first saw your first announcement for the ReZero reaction from more than 8 months ago, I was sooooo unbelievably excited for the journey since I figured it’d be exactly your cup of tea but never thought you’d watch an isekai show. It really is so different from the average escapism central that isekai shows were known for, and probably the only isekai I’ll ever take as an unbelievably “human” experience as shows like Attack on Titan. The production value for Season 3 was really high, and I’m really grateful for their ability to get this level of quality for an isekai show — which from what I’ve heard usually goes downhills in production past the first season and after the hype is over. I will say, while I loved this arc in the novels — it was generally regarded as one of the weaker arcs as it is VERY action oriented with characterization depth that are not as focused on by the narrative and were easier to miss if one wasn’t digging for it. So when combined with the inevitable cut content, removed monologues that downplay developments — I really thought you might not enjoy this season as much! But to my surprise, and a huge shoutout to all the people that would comment weekly to provide supplements, whether cut content or analysis, to anime onlies — it really felt like you didn’t miss out on anything! It’s gone to the point that I think your reactions have made me both appreciate and enjoy Season 3 more than when it was airing!! So I wanted to thank both you and everyone that allowed for these weekly reactions to be so packed and filled with thoughtful discussions that I think only further boosted the effect a “human” show like this can have on the adolescent and beyond. The past 8 months of every episode reactions have been nothing but pure bliss and joy to follow! Super pumped for Season 4, as reputation wise it’s basically the “Return to Shiganshina” arc (from AOT) of ReZero, where not only is it the most highly acclaimed arc in the whole series so far — but one that people tend to acknowledge its standout quality and writing, even if they don’t have it as their absolute favorite (which is fair, as there are a LOT of greatness to choose from across different arcs that makes it really hard to rank them sometimes). Also, this is like the third time I’ve brought it up now, but as we’re faced with the dilemma of having to get used to no more ReZero weeklies — I must stress that I really can’t wait for your Orb reactions, and I’m sure many others feel the same way. It will be a show that I trust to feel as perfectly timed for you as how Wraith from ReZero was during this season, and I do believe it will be life changing! Thanks again, and see you soon under Orb :D

2025-05-23 05:52:39 +0000 UTCNever thought you would prefer season 3 over season 2 but I can totally see after hearing your thoughts on each episode why you would prefer season 3. Also I would like to say that I really underestimated season 3's implicit meanings and the interesting philosophies about all the Sin archbishops which match with their actual traits/powers. Also season 4 is rumored to be the best arc of rezero for now so I really do hope they give it the adaptation it deserves.

2025-05-23 04:40:17 +0000 UTCAl glad Emilia is safe with a quick 1 on 1 convo, calling Betty Beako (literally no one caller her that but Subaru not even our spirit cat), and just happening to know where to grab all the spirit crystals needed to awaken Beako. More sus on the sus pile. Also while we have only bits and pieces for the Greeds imo that are the most interesting power wise. They seem to either not all share the exact same powers or maybe don't use them all evenly. We see that gourmand likes to learn the name of the person he kills so he can savor it (and gain all their memories/exp) but he is selective a bit or at least drags things out. Foul feeding seems to based on the name not be as selective but shares the same powers being able to have the knowledge/memories of those they eat. While Satiation cares more about who they are dining with than the food? They also seem to have the power to change their form into what is likely people theyve eaten (maybe why they care about who they dine with). Also this was stated before but for clarity. From what weve seen with the gluttony "brothers" and what even Puck has stated iirc (someone stated this as fact when it delt with Rem). Having you name eaten basically erases you from the world no one remembers you and your history becomes a blob in their memories its as if you randomly just appeared in the world. (only Subaru seems to remember people somehow such as with Rem and now this new purple haired guy). The other effect is eating your memories which is where people with cases of amnesia appear in the world. People forget their past life and basically start over. if BOTH are eaten thats a Rem case where you become basically a comatose shell that does not age, eat, sleep, ect.

2025-05-23 04:09:04 +0000 UTCFavorite episode is tough. The Rem episode is up there for sure. I don't think I can shake the season 3 bias here since I just finished it. A lot of what comes to mind is recent. I think the Liliana episode (never thought I'd be saying this) is one of my favorites if not my favorite because of how deep and real the problem is and how complete and truthful of a solution I feel it contains. It is a work of art unto itself and can ALMOST stand alone. The final Regulus episode is also up there, as is Lust's first confrontation with Subaru. I'm gonna cheat and pretend that all the Echidna tea parties were one episode, so that one is up there. I'm definitely forgetting a lot here. Echidna on a personal level is someone I'm the most drawn to. I suspect her story isn't done so I'm excited to see more. I actually have a feeling her character will look a lot less sinister down the road.

2025-05-23 03:54:53 +0000 UTCI was gonna say "take my name only please," but actually I'm not confident about which would be worse. Though, he also are Rem's whole existence too right? Crush and Julius at least can still live and function

2025-05-23 03:54:29 +0000 UTCThank you and thank you for your wonderful insights! I love your perspective on the overall themes of the story 😁 Hearing your praise for both the story to come and for Rui I am now even more hyped than before haha. I also was wondering about the name thing. What is the quality of a name given at birth that would make it more "real" or whatever than a name given later. Definitely identify stuff to cover there. And then Julius. I keep thinking about their conversation early in the season about self expression. Julius had other things to consider so I wondered how that would manifest... Andddd it's gone

2025-05-23 03:24:22 +0000 UTCWoaw Rezero is now over... see you around when S4 arrives around mid 2026-2027. Now that u have seen it all which episode is your favorite? Mine is still ep 18 because the Rem speech and s3 is also my favorite season cuz of the good action. Also is Echidna still your favorite charachter? Just wondering. Also on a scale of 1-10 how much did you enjoy this series overall? I really enjoyed it and its still my favorite isekai, but if you wanna watch anime simular to this then Mishoku Tensei and Rising of the Shield hero are good picks. Gonna miss your rezero reactions... but theres always new series i can watch. Great reaction and commentary. Also Julius whoooo? xD

2025-05-23 03:21:22 +0000 UTCWhat I really like about this season is how many characters shined, not only from the main cast. We've had episodes in which there Subaru and Emilia didn't appeared. I hated Priscilla, but now she's one of my fav characters. The thing about Sirius maybe being Fortuna and Al having some kind of RBD-like power and the way he talks being very similar to Subaru, also the mistery of Anastasia, I love how Re:Zero always give us more questions and gaps to be filled in the future. I hope we will not have to wait 3 years for S4. There is already a little teaser about season 4 but no date yet, you may check it out. It has no spoilers.
Kanious
2025-05-23 02:55:48 +0000 UTCto make it simple gluttony only ate julius's name, while he ate rems name and memories, and cruschs memories so they all have separate things that happened to them after gluttony dealt with them.

2025-05-23 02:40:42 +0000 UTCWe’re here! The finale of S3, and the anime thus far. I just wanna say first off, it’s been a genuine pleasure to watch you go through this series, and to have discussions about it. It’s my favorite piece of art, and story ever told, and I remember finding your channel years ago when you were first starting your FMAB reactions on YouTube, and wanting you to watch it. It’s a very personal and special piece of art for me and I’m sure many others. I first watched S1 allll the way back in 2016, and it has changed my life for the better, year by year, and continued to challenge me. The instantly iconic character designs, the wonderful and terrifying world, the beautiful music and animation, the consistently engaging and shocking mystery plot, it all drew me in. But what kept me was its nuanced, messy, toxic cast of characters, and its complex portrayal of all the kinds of love we give, receive, and experience at all stages of life. And Subaru was at the heart of that for me. You will stumble and fall, and continue to be “wrong”. You will continue to be beat down by life and your own shortcomings. You’ll never be perfect at expressing your feelings, or showing love in healthy ways. You won’t always make the most wise decisions. The people you will continue to meet are people who are just as hurt as you, and you will continue to wound each other. There is no fantasy world for you to escape to, no reincarnation into a new, more appealing body, no overpowered abilities to gain respect and love from your friends and fear from your enemies, not even in your dreams. It’s just you. Suffering will continue, and it might seem like death is the only escape. But it’s not. Because you can start over again. As many times as you need. And even then, the best of moments, the height of emotional catharsis, can still carry hidden thorns. You will have to be mindful, vigilant, and aware of what rests in your heart, but you can start over. If you choose to do so. And that’s hard. So hard. You’ll have to reflect on your darkest parts, confront them, and even change them. But it can be worth it, because there are people you’ve met who love you. And there will be more people you’ll meet who you may come to love. And maybe that can break through, and make you realize that you can also have love for yourself. And despite whatever cruelty will be flung at you by “fate”, you can hold on to that, because that’s yours forever. Love is a beautiful thing we get to experience before we get sent off into the beyond, so take hold of your love, your happiness, your autonomy, and choose to love deeply and authentically, no matter how messy or imperfect it may be. And this is just the beginning. The author is setting up so many threads of thematic and narrative importance, whether it be with our antagonists, our main characters, the culture and politics of the world, or the very nature of “identity” itself, they’re all slowly being woven into a tapestry that will be “Re: Zero” when all is said and done. I cannot wait until S4 releases. From here on, the author takes things to another level entirely, if you can believe that. So once again, thank you for sharing your thoughts each week on this story. It’s been a treat to hear your unique, thoughtful, and insightful perspectives. And it’s been awesome to see someone able to really keep track of characters, their motives, plot points, etc. Because every single thing in Re: Zero comes back around. Every word spoken, every action taken. Nothing is unintentional. Now, finally onto the episode itself haha. She’s finally here. Rui Arneb. I love all of the archbishops, and I think when it comes to pure quality, vision, and execution, Re: Zero has one of if not the best antagonist casts of all time. But above all the others, Rui is my absolute favorite of the archbishops, and in my top 3 antags of the series, only beat by a couple villains that won’t be introduced till later seasons. I love her line referring to her brothers. “They just don’t get it. It’s not about what you eat, it’s about who you eat it with.” I also wanna shout out the OST that accompanies her appearance, her theme music. The strings sound so unstable and dark, accompanied by some amazingly ethereal and haunting vocals. Genuinely cannot wait till next season for her to get more shine, I think you’ll love her in particular given stuff you’ve liked in other series before. Also just wanna say, I love how the fight with Lye is animated and portrayed. Whether it’s the fractal animation they do when he takes the names of people, or the camerawork around Betty’s spells, it’s all great. Love it. When Felt arrives with the metia, Betty is able to help use it correctly. She does say “Mother” when she sees it though. Echidna still has her hands in the events of the world, even to this day. Speaking of Felt, this is where I wanna bring up a theory regarding her “true name” that she was given as a child. There’s been mention multiple times this season and in S1 that one of the royal family was kidnapped over a decade ago. I think this was Felt for sure. And that would tie her up in a whole lot of stuff regarding the Astrea’s, given that Wilhelm missed the death of Theresia because he was out with a search party to retrieve the missing royal. This also brings up some interesting stuff in the worldbuilding. It seems that at least from the power of gluttonies discernment, (Obv this power of eating names and memories isn’t necessarily the final say on this, it could be biased in and of itself, in fact I think it is, and would be fitting if ALL the witch factors the archbishops received were flawed in some way) your true name is the one you get given at birth. I think this’ll be important, as since S1, fate and the “immutable” parts of the world have been consistently challenged. So Felt breaking out of who she was “born as” and deciding to be “Felt” is something I think she’ll be confronted with in the future. I love the interrogation room scene with Sirius. One of my favs in the episode. I get an uneasy feeling when she’s musing on the importance of music and song. Has Liliana’s performance inspired her? Sirius, and her ability, have so much potential it’s frightening. If she returns with a singing voice, imagine the power she could hold over people. Hell, real world musicians don’t need magic soul-washing powers to cultivate a cultish fanbase. I also love the implications of her wanting to drag Petelgeuse out of Subaru. He does have his witch factor from when he killed him, is there a legitimate part of Geuse’ soul within him? (Also begs the question, what happened to Regulus’ witch factor? Something to look out for.) And finally, her ominous final warning. “Gourmand, Foul-Feeding, and Satiation will all come to take you away.” We know that Lye represents Gourmand, and Foul-Feeding is Roy. So it seems Rui must be Satiation. Veryyy interesting for an archbishop of gluttony. And of course, more Al being suspicious. I love seeing all the theories people come up with for him. I have my own theory on his circumstances, I don’t think he “is Subaru” though. That’s all I’ll say on that. He’s one of my favorite characters, so finally getting to see him to get his first real spotlight in the anime was awesome. I also think it’s interesting that Sirius seems to have a positive impression of Subaru, at least for now. Unlikely ally in the future? Possibly. She and Capella seem likely candidates for maybe being able to reach, at least thus far. And so, all seems well. The gluttonies and Capella have retreated, Regulus is dead, and Sirius is captured. I love the whole aftermath we get. Emilia and Subarus interactions with each other and Betty are super heartwarming. Lots of things tied up, some things left in the middle (Freezing the transformed people, transporting Sirius to the capital), and some things still left unresolved. Anastasia still has a lot of question marks hanging above her. Why could she use the magic she did, hell, why’d she gather everyone in this city in the first place? I cannot wait for next season lmao. And finally, who’s this purple haired guy? I absolutely love the build up they did for this scene. It gave me the same feelings from when I first read it. The lighting, the upbeat music, the incredibly animated facial expressions, it’s all so good. It’s super fuckin gut wrenching, especially for a man like Julius. He’s so particular about his image, who he is, his line of work and duty, how he upholds those things honorably, and the respect he garners for it. All ripped away. Just like that. Crusch had her own memories ripped away, but she still had the support of Ferris, Wilhelm, Subaru, and others who remember her. Rem is simply a blank, not aware, like a sleeping beauty. But Julius, he has no one. The kingdom he serves, the friends he’s made, the woman he’s devoted himself to in her running for the throne, all gone. Well, save one person. Subaru still remembers him. And thus begins one of my favorite dynamics in the entire story. Subaru and Julius already have a wonderfully built up dynamic and complex relationship, but it really just goes to the stratosphere from here on. And so we end on a cliffhanger. And man it’s a brutal one. The current arc isn’t actually quite over yet, they’ll likely adapt the rest in the first ep of S4, with the wrapping up of some of the other plot threads, as well as reveals yet to come, but with the changing production schedule, I think they chose the best possible place to end it without cutting major content. So once again, bravo to studio White Fox. It’s rare that a series gets this much passion and care put into it, what with the extended episodes throughout all 3 seasons, the excellent production values, and all the love that everyone who works on this series clearly has for the source material, from VAs to animators. So once again, awesome thoughts as always, and thank you for going on this journey!
