It's interesting how much more obvious the Avengers Reference was to me in the Manga compared to here, I didn't expect color coding to make this much of a difference. I don't think I would have caught it if I didn't already know about it? Anyway, great discussion this week! I didn't put together until you touched on it that the Yakuza Code was even playing into the theme of the episode, totally went over my head before! I find this deep dive into Stain really fascinating and fitting, but I've always considered him a murderous psychopath, so of course I wouldn't mind this depiction of him. I bet there's people out there though (the "Stain was right, actually" crowd) who think it ruins his character, especially if post-break out Stain is fresher in your mind compared to Villain Stain. I wonder if Knuckle knows he kind of helped create Hero Killer Stain?

Yakuza 0 is the only one I've played but I played the hell out of it. Let me know exactly how much you enjoy the dress up mini game and why you loved it so much ๐Ÿ˜‚

It's crazy watching this, and then remembering that it's this guy, way down the line that ends up giving All Might the push he needs in the Season 6 finale of MHA. Also, I recently bought all the mainline Yakuza games in a big bundle, and was planning to play Yakuza 0 soon. I basically just know about the Baka Mitai bit, and I've seen some memes that I think feature Goro Majima, but that's about it.

Oh man they were even having a conversation about IDs like Captain America Civil War. I'm also really happy to see early Stain. There's a lot in this episode about great qualities in people doing terrible things. As I think I said at one point, as terrible as Stain is now, there are a lot of things you can't take away from the guy. One of them is his conviction to developing towards his ideal, and not a specific, pre-set ideal but an adaptive one that is learning and growing. So as crazy as it is, it's not inconceivable to think of him continuously refining closer and closer to the heroic side, even ending up standing alongside Deku. That's an uncomfortable thought given what we've seen from him, and it wouldn't undo his previous evil, but is a thrilling idea. That maybe also partly explains the difference in tone between Stain then and Stain "now."

The Yakuza guys at the start were a reference to Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Captain America, Hawkeye, Black widow and the Winter soldier. it's interesting to see that Knuckleduster directly created stain in a way and his view change from only going after villains to also going after false heroes and how Knuckles punch breaking his nose resulting in him cutting it off, I'm happy they didn't hold back on stain cutting off his nose, it's very clear that stain isn't right it the head at this moment but its crazy how comparing him in the episode to the last ep of season 6 where he's talking to all might about what really made All might a hero and how it didn't have anything to do with power but what he represented, I don't I guess in my eyes the stain of season 6 and beyond seems a lot more "noble" I guess but this ep just made me love his character even more and I'm happy we got a backstory for him because I feel like we didn't get enough vigilante characters in the main show, and because I tend to forget how important stain is to the main story since he is what brings League of villains together since they admired him, Toga, Dabi Etc,
