There is a cut content scene from arc 4 (s2) that seems really important but for some reason just isn’t apart of the anime that gives us some more info about echidna and like 30 more questions about her. For some reason they just decided to cut that, which is crazy. So uhh, pay attention to the break time shorts next season ig, knowing how they’ve handled cut content in the past. I get why they might’ve cut it though, I don’t think it becomes relevant for a while. You can always watch the echidnut video on it if you’re interested.

2025-04-26 01:59:13 +0000 UTCStill... 26:15 is 物事の外面に拘る, which is to be fixated on the outer surface of things. I think that's pretty directly self contradictory.

2025-04-25 12:14:27 +0000 UTCRegulus mentioning physical appearance was a mistranslation, I went back and checked and just typed up a 2nd comment on it under this post. But the neat thing is that you’re still 100% right on it being narcissism rooted in his arbitrary ideologies. He called Emilia shallow for being “overfixated” on what he said to be “superficial” (physical was a mistranslation) things like names, without realizing that collecting wives for their pretty faces & other physical attributes and nothing else — is the real superficial elephant in the room. He’s so confident too, the common attribute of narcissists. He is confidently wrong and all the while ignorant of his own hypocrisy. Looking down on others and clinging onto his “rights”. It’s hilariously evil but also uncomfortably grounded in reality!

2025-04-25 07:41:04 +0000 UTCWait, I almost forgot to point out. I had to go back and double check because I thought I had lost my mind. But Regulus didn’t call himself out by telling Emilia that fixation on names is the same as being obsessed with physical looks. That line was a pretty bad mistranslation on Crunchyroll’s part. There’s another translation team called Muse Translations that worked very hard this season to correct Crunchyroll’s errors, and their translation stated that Regulus merely asked Emilia: “Are you that fixated on names? You would obsess so much over superficial things? That’s rather shallow, don’t you think?” Crunchyroll made the mistake of translating superficial things as physical appearance, because they played more into the “surface level” aspect of superficiality — which they thought just meant physical appearance. But this mistranslation ends up making Regulus seems like he’s directly calling himself out, when instead he’s labeling “names” as superficial but not “physical looks” — essentially still being a hypocrite but that’s just his ideology, he’s not conceding anything here. I thought something was off because I remember this line vividly as being different in the novels and on Muse’s translation, which I watched for my viewing experience. So I went back and checked and yeahhhh… it’s an unfortunate mistranslation.

2025-04-25 07:30:40 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure that the reason Subaru can just take all of Crusch poison from her body is because it works like a transfer rather than healing, it's his body taking the poison from her body and adding it to his which results in him worsening his own condition and since Felis cant heal him since he tried and it didn't do anything to Subaru it would just put them at a worse spot in the fight. I don't know why but your subtitles have Felix's name as Felis I don't know if it's a typo in the subtitle, but his Name is Felix.

2025-04-25 06:58:48 +0000 UTCAnd with the reveal that Theresia lost her divine protection during her battle with the White Whale, and the reveal that Reinhard can just wish for any divine protections and have them granted we finally have the full dilema ... Did little 4 year old Reinhard unknowingly wish to be the next Master Swordsman / Sword Saint, perhaps as he saw Theresia leaving for the battle, and had that wish granted? Or was it just pure chance? And even if he did wish for it, could we really blame it on a 4 year old child? Well, Wilhelm did blame him back then, even though he regrets it now, and Reinhard has internalized that guilt, and it ruined the entire family dynamic. I think I heard author recently sort of confirmed what happened in an interview, but I think it's better left out as this sort of uncertain thing.

2025-04-25 06:37:29 +0000 UTCHis alluding to his own superficiality was striking. All villains will undo themselves eventually just by explaining enough about their thought process but it was interesting how much of a concession that was for him

2025-04-25 06:06:11 +0000 UTCThat is a major change. I had thought she had a more concrete plan there and was surprised when it wasn't there. Also, Pouf! Maybe what all these archbishops really need is an enlightened leader

2025-04-25 06:02:11 +0000 UTCI think the thing with Regulus is that he doesn't have a thorough ideology. He says that physical appearance is everything, but then in the next breath, he's criticizing people for judgments as shallow as physical appearance. There's no unifying, coherent philosophy there. It's really just narcissism. It's what I want to be true at this moment, right now, for the purposes of this sentence in this conversation. I think it's meant to be almost comically evil; for me, it's pretty realistic compared to some people I know, minus the whole invulnerability and lethality.

2025-04-25 05:16:12 +0000 UTCI’m not gonna lie, I’m not of big fan of a single intentional decision that they made in their directing of this episode — that is to showcase Emilia doing nothing and closing her eyes after embarrassing Regulus. This was a straight up change from the novels, where she intended to confront Regulus head on through words and to fight her way out if they can’t come to an agreement. My man, in the novels she was literally materializing ice daggers out of her hand and crossed them in front of her in a guarding position as soon as she realized the conversation had broken down. But in the anime they literally made it look like she was suicidal and was just praying that Subaru or somebody makes it here in time 😭 They also cut a good amount of Regulus’s philosophy on why he hates the superficiality of names and other preferences when it comes to a marriage, they actually do that a lot this season — which I kinda get as this man YAPS. But at the same time, I’d like to say that Regulus reminds me A LOT of Pouf from HxH. They’re both individuals with incredibly thought out philosophies and person compass, except — they’re dead wrong (and can both be hypocritical at times, Regu more than Pouf). Going back to the direction thing, I suppose I’ll bring up that this season underwent a director change vs the previous two. And while I think the season is overall incredibly solid in many areas, the change to a new director (quite literally, he is a rookie with minimal history 😪) definitely shows sometimes with the direction the show decides to take with the portrayal of different characters at times. Stuff like having Emilia play too much into the “damsel in distress” trope when the script was supposed to be approaching the climax of her solo confrontation with Regulus, were decisions that a lot of people in the fandom have called out for. I don’t want to spoil anything, and I still love this season VERY much, but I’ll probably be back in the next few episodes to elaborate on more of the weird directorial choices and directions they’re taking with the interpretation of a few scenes down the line. Super glad you caught the slippery slope in Regulus’s behavior and how it relates to us more than we’d think. Especially with the season watering down a lot of the dialogue and exposition, it can be easy for anime onlies to just think of Regulus as only a radical weirdo (which he is!) — but without realizing that he’s merely the strawmanned version of much of the similar selfish pitfalls we ourselves struggle with. Greed, eh? Thanks again and see you next vid!

2025-04-25 04:42:54 +0000 UTCIt's always "save me Reinhardt" and "invent a new power for me Reinhardt" but never "I got your back Reinhardt." What's cool is there are absolutely ways in which Subaru can be supportive and it doesn't have to be fighting abilities. Regulus is amazing, I'm thrilled that there's more to come 😂

2025-04-25 03:36:38 +0000 UTCYeah I meant Gluttony 😅 Now that you say that about Priscilla I agree. It would be really difficult for me to be around her. And she is really not a very nice person. But I increasingly like her on-screen moments and I think that big picture it gets easier to overlook her interactional cruelty while she's doing big and good things in the fight for civilians.

2025-04-25 03:30:57 +0000 UTCLet’s go! Re: Peak time. Love this ep, wedding crashers: Re: Zero edition. I love how pragmatic Otto is. It’s something you can forget since he’s so kind to Subaru a lot of the time, but when it comes to everything and everyone else, he’s super no-nonsense. The whole Crusch scene is super interesting, Subaru can intake the curse it seems, but having a curse stuck in your body, even if it seems to be not affecting him currently, is a gamble. Plus, it’s another example of taking on the burden, like Al warned him about. I do admire him for doing it tho. Also feel super bad for Ferris, being a healer, and having your greatest gift be useless to help the person closest to you. And now, we get a better idea as to the rift in the Astrea family with the reveal that the blessing of the sword saint passed to Reinhard during therasias battle against the whale. Reinhard is carrying some really heavy shit on his soul, at no fault of his own. I also absolutely love the scene where Subaru says he’ll cover where Reinhard is lacking. As someone who’s prob only been seen only as a “solution” to problems his whole life, you can tell it means more to him than Subaru can ever know. Emilia was just so rude to Regulus man, who does that at a wedding? Lmao but no, I really liked your comment about there being “a little bit of regulus in everyone” at the end of the discussion. It’s true, while he is an extreme version, we saw Subaru on this sort of path in S1. The entitlement, feeling belittled by everything, Regulus is in a way, the real truth behind the typical isekai hero. He’s super powerful, has tons of wives even if he has no redeeming qualities to show for it, and feels like everyone else is wronging him all the time. He even treats his wives like little figurines on a shelf, like you said. And so that’s why I think it’s so important that Subaru faces him down. I’m super excited for the next many episodes as more of Regulus’ nature becomes clear, there’s a lot that connects, and a lot to understand about him still beyond the meta parallels to Subaru and the genre at large. I also really like Emilia’s admission that she doesn’t truly know what it means to love someone yet. It’s honestly a pretty important and profound realization from her, and it makes sense with the sheltered and traumatic life she’s lived. I think it would’ve been all to easy for the author to just make Subaru and Emilia an official couple in the time skip between S2 and 3, but neither of them are truly ready for what that means yet, and the author understands that. They’ve got a long way to go still, even if she’s already decided who she’s gonna marry one day. And of course Reinhard and Subaru crashing the wedding is fantastic. Great thoughts as always, I’m super hype for next episode!

2025-04-25 01:39:07 +0000 UTCLets go Peak Zero!! This episode aired on November and ep 9 started back up in February so we had to wait 3 months for Rezero but its gonna get gooood from here. Interesting that you like Priscilla cuz alot of people do, i think im the exception cuz i dont like how she behaves. I just think that if she was a real person it be the type of person i wouldnt like but idk. Also around the 17:29 you said "That leaves Reinahard for Sloth" ummmm sloth as in Petelgeuse? Spoiler alert he's already dead lol, but umm did u mean gluttony? Cuz at 19:38 u said "what about sloth" xD Very slothful man. Jk im just teasing u xD Great reaction tho, im especially excited for the next couple of episodes as they are some of my favorite this season.
