Mimi is actually very emotionally intelligent. Her perceived obliviousness and goofyness are actually her noticing that Garfiel is becoming overwhelmed and trying to diffuse the situation.

2025-04-05 01:44:59 +0000 UTCLet’s go! Gorgeous Tiger time. Another packed episode, emotions and action alike. Regulus is such an interesting character. He’s so nonplussed a lot of the time, but very specifically gets set off when he feels he’s been personally slighted. People just keep on violating his rights. I love all the Sirius stuff this episode. Her little hand gestures at Regulus, her stalker like behavior towards Petelgeuse, and now her fixation on Subaru. I particularly like her line “Pain is what life truly feels like, and life exists to be proof of love.” (And on the Sirius = Fortuna theory, I also subscribe to this. She has elf ears, the purple eyes, the hair, which would make her insults at Emilia last ep pretty ironic if true. And also super tragic.) I like seeing just how destructive the archbishops can be together. Because Sirius has connected them all, Regulus blowing off Subarus leg becomes wayyy more horrifying than if it’d just been him alone. Betty had to clutch up healing everyone. I love all the other interactions this episode, the introduction of the witches remains, Lust on the broadcast, etc. But really, this is Garf’s episode. I love the soundtrack choice and the colors in all of his scenes. I just get really emotional when it comes to him. Him being so young, going through all this stuff, it just hits for me. I also like how Garf almost goes through a similar trajectory that Subaru does at the start of S2. A person close to them “lost” not due to death, but memory. And the way Mimi comforts Garf is framed exactly the same as when Emilia comforts him at Rem’s bedside in S2. And we have Elsa tormenting him still. Mocking him for running away. Just a few lines later, he says “Like they say, Reid always faces every foe head-on.” A conflict between his words and boasts, and his inner self. And as a final note, one thing I’ve always loved and has been a point of Re: Zero, is names. This ep brings this up a few times, with introductions (Regulus) false names (Sirius calling Subaru Petelgeuse) and Garf’s “Gorgeous Tiger” moniker, being the image he wants to put out into the world. In fact, in the first ep this season he tells the kids “My names not important enough to give.” Before he takes on the Gorgeous Tiger name in front of them. Loved the thoughts as always, super excited for the next episodes!

2025-04-05 01:42:23 +0000 UTCAhhh, the infamous "my waifu" line. There's no reason to believe that the Japanese word he's using is equivalent to "waifu". There's a supposed JP meme that uses the same wording iirc, but the word also just means wife and it seems incongruent for Subaru to be slinging 2chan lingo at this time. The head translator of Witch Cult Translations and a native Japanese speaker that he knows also disagree with the translation
