I wonder if Nolan felt that deep loneliness similarly before Debbie. More in a goofy vein- I like to Imagine Nolan comes back, releases his new best selling novels, and Conquest secretly loves them.

It's like what Debbie said about other people having the same reality even if you don't feel it... Well now he's seen it with his own eyes and also seen the impact he can have for helping people. Years ago, when gay marriage was still being decided, I went to a rally for an important legislative vote. Everybody was energetic and having a great time, and on the other side of the street were the counter-protesters. I was really struck by how disinterested and lifeless they seemed, just a bunch of sour-faced people who had brought lawn chairs to sit and watch the end of the world. It occurred to me that they didn't actually give a damn about the issue, or any issue - they just wanted to be losing, and for things to be getting worse. If positions were reversed, they would show up for whichever side was unhappy, so they could sit there and be smugly miserable.

Imagine the stuff she could do if she learned the secret techniques passed down the armstrong family for generations. Seriously though. There are a lot of applications even against like viltrumites. Like turn the air into anthrax or blast the guy with obsidian glass monoatomic blades or something. Missed potential for sure.
