2025-02-28 18:37:26 +0000 UTCSo Garf and Frederica have two different fathers who both happen to be able to transform into giant cats? I guess their mom has a type.

2025-02-27 16:46:23 +0000 UTCPeak zero day!!! The hate to apreciate to love garf pipeline is sooooo real, i identify so much with his struggle of self love and lashing out with everything around him.

2025-02-27 06:20:25 +0000 UTCAh ok thx for letting me know il edit that so he doesnt get spoiled by watching the wrath if. Also interesting he deleted the lust route xD i mean its kinda wild but it does kinda fit with it being the route of lust.

2025-02-27 03:58:53 +0000 UTCThe Lust IF was so bad and shallow that the author himself deleted it on his own publisher and doesn't claim it anymore LMAO Wrath IF is more of Subaru becoming an underground gang leader and it also features characters all the way in Arc 7 (Season 5?), he doesn't associate with Beatrice much in that one other than fulfilling her wish in a way. Ram also doesn't have much screentime in that IF, either, it's really a polarizing experience -- I'll leave it at that LOL| Gluttony IF is an Arc 6 route, really really cool short story that I personally LOVE but unfortunately it's some distance away (it'll be Season 4 -- Arc 6 adaptation got delayed).

2025-02-27 03:55:27 +0000 UTCThe gauntlets that Garf was using, like he said, were actually shields that he and Frederica played with as kids. You can actually see them hanging inside Granny Ryuzu Bilma's little hut during the episode where Subaru talks to her about Echidna and the apostle of greed and all that. Snor already made a comment on it, but yeah heavy mistranslation by Crunchyroll here. Roswaal wasn't part of the Witch Cultists group that burned down Ram's village, he just knew the attack will happen and where to pick up the twins from his Tome. There's a good amount of cut dialogue in the exchange between Ram and Roswaal, but I think they did an okay job on at least conveying the outline of their relationship and history -- so I won't elaborate TOO much on it. But yes, as you can see, Ram has a strange devotion to Roswaal, so strange that Roswaal himself doesn't even suspect it. He thinks she just wants revenge, which is what he promised he'll give her AFTER he achieved his goal. We know Roswaal does a mana ritual with Ram at late evenings to give her the mana she needs to sustain her own life without the help of her horn (since it's broken). Ram saying that she won't be satisfied with an empty husk of Roswaal that was promised in their shared vow -- is a testament to the idea that she actually wants to save him. Now, as to why that feeling is so strong, is obviously suspicious as Rem doesn't exist in her memories right now, so there's definitely a bit of an overcompensating going on here with the shift (or rather, increase) in devotion. The Emilia Roswaal conversation was AMAZING. Poor Roswaal is getting surprised left and right with how quickly people can change when given the catalyst and avenue for it, this probably feels like the longest night of his life LOL. I thought it was genuinely hilarious and thematically fitting to see him gasp at the reveal that Subaru called Emilia a "pain in the ass" -- something that Roswaal would never be bold enough to say to the subject of his love. Btw, Roswaal told Emilia that the world will end and reset soon because he doesn't expect Subaru to break out of the chess board that Roswaal has set up for him. That's what he meant by how this world no longer has any meaning, and that neither the Sanctuary Trials nor the Royal Selection have any value in this timeline, anymore. Now in return, obviously Emilia was enraged, because what do you mean that I just confronted my biggest fear and now you're saying that nothing matters anymore?? She has no way of knowing what Roswaal meant, so that was just a petty move by Roswaal to vent his frustration at how the pieces are falling apart for him, across the board. I would go as far as to say it's actually an unexpectedly childish and out of character behavior by Roswaal, to say things that have no meaning just to get back at Emilia, who came out on top in their debate. It's pretty telling of his mental state and inner sense of defeat that's already looming, and DAMN is it refreshing to see. At the end there, I must say that Garf's reunion with Frederica and the difference in their heights is reminding me of Edward from FMAB. My headcannon is that Garf didn't get enough milk in the somewhat impoverished upbringing inside the Sanctuary, while Frederica got to eat actual food when she ventured outside at a young age. Also love the detail where after listening to Subaru complain about how Reinhard has his own idioms despite being still alive -- Garf decides to quote Subaru's sayings in his exchange with Elsa! He's literally like the average 13 year old that just imprints themselves onto the first mentor figure that they could find LOL, and it's actually wholesome as hell. Looking forward to the climax!

2025-02-27 03:46:49 +0000 UTCil list of what the other routes are about and you can decide if the other ones are worth checking out. Wrath If - Subaru takes Echidnas deal and makes a contract with her, and we see how that goes down Sloth If - Rem instead of preventing Subaru from giving up takes his deal and they go off and live a life together, but wherever Subaru goes there's always trouble ;) Pride If - Subaru joins the witch cult and makes it his goal to destroy Reinhard Gluttony If - (This is an arc 5/6 route (s3 or s4) so this route would be spoilers) Wrath If - Instead of ending his life in s1 when ram accuses him of ending rem he doesn't restart there and continues living and fights Ram alongside Beatrice. Hailan let me know it has season 5 spoilers so this one is a skip. Lust If - Subaru marries all the royal candidates including Rem and a few others..... (Yeah I can understand if u skip this one xD bro build his harem) Envy If - This is the main route, so NO spoilers.

2025-02-27 03:36:19 +0000 UTCThat's a good reading of it too. The not doing it flippantly is probably all that's needed narratively for Subaru's development, like you laid out. I'm not sure if I'm taking the idea that timeline might continue without him more seriously than intended or not. But in Subaru's shoes that dream memory of abandoning Emilia when he killed himself to try and save Rem would have stuck with me a lot.

2025-02-27 03:32:22 +0000 UTCThe IF paths are a good read, though they're pretty short as they're really meant to be showcases of extreme spirals that Subaru goes down (bar the Rem/Sloth IF, which is actually a pretty long read and boasts a grounded storyline to follow). I will say though, the writing for a lot of the IF paths are fairly... "edgy"? It's definitely not as nuanced and thoughtful as the main storyline, that's for sure. But if you're really thinking about doing some reading for ReZero, I would definitely recommend beyond just the small IF sidestories -- and actually the main novels themselves, as from my personal experience they're everything the anime is but with the character nuances magnified and delved into. Season 3 has been pretty cool, but the Studio did switch off a lot of the team that worked on Season 1 and 2. The change of directors feels especially noticeable to me PERSONALLY (all the power to everyone that's loving S3), and IMO a lot of the characters feel more than a little flat compared to the way they were portrayed in the novels. They're doing A LOT of cuts and idk, it's kinda damaging to a lot of the character dynamics and weight of different interactions/encounters. I mean this is all just personal opinion, but going back and watching Season 2 through your reactions is making it seem like a night and day difference in the scriptwriting of the adaptations. An example would be how all the stuff that you saw in the conversation between Roswaal and Emilia -- would get really watered down and reduced if placed under the current Season 3 adaptation (at least, that's been my personal perception). So I would heavily HEAVILY recommend the main novels, if you end up liking what you read in the IF short stories! (S3 still has A LOT of cool stuff and moments in it, I'm still watching it first thing on Wednesday mornings haha)

2025-02-27 03:27:11 +0000 UTCThis question made me realize that I'm not even really taking the no RBD thing all that seriously. I think I was just assuming that if something like that happened he would absolutely just use it to go back... The change in this case would then be more like... I'm not going to use it flippantly or treat it as the solution to everything as an excuse or as a self-punishment for my failure. The way he was using it before felt somewhat naively self-sacrificial, thinking "it's okay if I die, I'll just use my superpower," naively missing the toll it was taking on him and disregarding any concerns of either long term feasibility or his own self worth. For someone to actually die though and him not use it in that case... That's a lot, I'm not sure it would feel palatable. Tough call

2025-02-27 03:25:49 +0000 UTCYeah I figure I should at least do Subaru's greed what if cause of my infatuation with Echidna

2025-02-27 03:21:11 +0000 UTCPeak: Zero time! Love this ep. It’s a lot of conversations, but I absolutely love the contents of all of them. I love Emilia and Rams convo, and by extension her convo with Roswaal afterwards. Ram’s true wants haven’t been made crystal clear yet, but I do love that she’s really opening herself up to Emilia here. They have a completely different dynamic compared to Ram’s other relationships, and it’s really sweet imo. I also love how Roswaal talks about the world and even the relationships the characters have between each other. He speaks as if it’s a stage play, something rehearsed, with set acts and a conclusion. There’s lots of theories surrounding that framework in the series, so it’s nice to see Roswaal bring it up in the anime. It is also true that Ram’s feelings for Roswaal intensified after Rem’s disappearance. Glad you picked that up, as some anime-onlies don’t connect the dots on that. Also of course Reinhard has his own idiom when he’s still alive. What doesn’t he have? And we have the return to the mansion. Garf and Fred’s reunion is great, and I just love Elsa. She’s just super charming in every scene she’s in. Great thoughts as always, excited for the next ones!

2025-02-27 03:19:18 +0000 UTCI suppose we kind of flipped a script where RBD was selfless move but now is a potentially selfish decision.
Sage
2025-02-27 03:18:28 +0000 UTCNow we are not using RBD I wonder what happens if a main character dies that's not Subaru. Will he feel like it. I understand that we are trying to get things right the first time now we are uncertain if the timelines continue and it's not really a selfless sacrifice anymore. But still it would be hard to continue without a character he loves when he has the option to escape the timeline and go for another one.

2025-02-27 03:17:33 +0000 UTCOh wait you're going to record reactions to those? Im hyped.

2025-02-27 03:11:38 +0000 UTCAhh thanks I appreciate that. It's unsatisfying but that will probably mean only episode 25 that week, but maybe I can add some of the peripheral materials like what if paths etc, cause I've been wanting to do that

2025-02-27 03:08:53 +0000 UTCPeak Zero Day!! Very impressed you picked up on the fact that Subaru refuses to use RBD anymore. In S3 especially i see alot of reactors go "Rbd rbd come on subaru use rbd" and im jus like, nah he's not doing that anymore xD Also to clarify Roswaal didnt attack Ram's village he just knew it was going to happen and let it happen so he can take advantage of Rem and Ram. I mean ig he could still be blamed for it as he let a situation he probably couldve prevented happen. Great reaction im so hyped for you to get to S3. They dropped ep 12 today and man...it was SO good. Cant wait for you to get to S3 as imo its peak. Btw wanted to let u know that i noticed the episode line up is ep 21 and 22 this week, ep 23 and 24 next week and ep 25 and s3 ep 1 in 2 weeks right? Episode 1 of S3 is actually 1h and 30 minutes long. Im not sure what that means for the schedule but wanted to give you a heads up about it.
