I think it's also her particular brand of "knowledge" seeking where it's about people and experiences. My opinion of Emilia HAS changed a lot. The key factor was realizing her princess like perfection wasn't a trope, but more like an imposition from others that makes her a lot more sympathetic and interesting.

2025-02-13 03:45:11 +0000 UTCI think an Echidna Route would work if Echidna possessed some sort of external vessel, or at least have an additional agreement that Echidna cannot read your thoughts or speak to you unless you call upon her first. But Echidna having 24/7 access to your brain and thoughts makes it way too easy for her to manipulate you, regardless of who you are, I think. You can't exactly control the amount of influence a toxic person has over you if you offer them complete, unfiltered access to every single aspect of your personal life and thoughts.

2025-02-13 03:05:55 +0000 UTCIf you want to get more insight on the IF greed route there is a great video made by Echidnut where he goes through the story and has visuals (from the anime) so u can follow along like its telling a story and i think the english va of subaru is also in it. You can check it out if you are interested, its 17 minutes and tells the story of the greed IF route. Would recommend you finish S2 first though before watching it or the other IF routes.

Language comment: it's a little hit-the-audience-over-the-head-with-a-hammer, but Mother Fortuna's speech quirk is saying "sugoooku" (essentially: "reaaaally") a lot, which Emilia presumably got from her.

2025-02-13 02:59:59 +0000 UTCThat's interesting that some people don't like this section. I've only seen through the next episode so far but I'm enjoying the look back at Emilia and Geuse. About Echidna-Subaru... Echidna has pretty much revealed her inner nature and she's not the best person (😭), and yeah, is clearly manipulative, selfish, all that stuff. And overall pretty clear that Subaru made the right choice. I guess the reason I'm fixated on it is that while I think attempts at using other people for selfish aims are wrong, manipulation is not magic, and there is always an element of choice in the actions of the manipulated. I say this not to victim blame but because I think it's important to emphasize the idea of choice, cause I think that idea is perhaps one way to become more resilient to manipulation. And also because I'm fantasizing about what an Echidna route would be and can't let it go 😂

2025-02-13 02:57:12 +0000 UTCGreat reaction wasnt expecting another rezero reaction so soon so i was caught off guard xD So about the IF route u mention (based on wat u know) that its not Echidna's doing that leads to things going wrong and while i do agree to some degree that Subaru has the control to make his own actions at the same time when a being that posseses infinite knowledge promises you a good future, you must admit its hard for Subaru to do anything else BUT listen to her, especially when (at that point) all of Subarus attempts to beat the sanctuary were futile. Echidna is for a lack of a better term manipulating Subaru cuz at the end of the day Echidna is just using Subaru for her own motives and thats for her quest of infinite knowledge. And she did kinda gaslight Subaru because she 1 never told him about what wouldnt benifit him and even tho she technically helps Subaru save everyone she never helps them become better. Its like the parent mentality to lock up their children in a room forever, yes they are safe but they never get to explore, grow and find happines. These are the main problems of the IF route and setting Subaru aside at least in my opinion, Echidna is def not helping him out of the goodness of her heart. But ik u like Echidna so i wont give u too much trouble ;) this is jus mainly my opinion on the matter And yes Echidna is mad at Emilia because Subaru likes Emilia and not her xD And because she's salty Subaru didnt take her offer. But there is another reason that i think is spoiler? So i wont get into it Great reaction, i like ur insights alot i will let u know tho real quick from this point on to like episode 21 some people find this part of the story boring? And ik a couple of people who have dropped the series around this time. So i hope u end up liking it and if not i assure u S3 comes back so well!!

2025-02-13 02:42:46 +0000 UTCLet’s goooo! Memory time. Lots and lots of wholesomeness, yet with an air of dread. I love all the banter we get between Subaru, Garf, Otto, Ram, etc. This is mostly the Emilia ep, but I do like that a more relaxed Garfiel is already finding a place in the dynamic. Tons of lore, and a ton of setup for the upcoming episodes and the series in general. Seeing Geuse again is amazing, he was already a memorable antagonist with clear depth beneath the surface, but now we get to see him in another light. I also like that despite how different he is here compared to the future, there are tells that he is definitely still the same guy. The moments of extreme emotional whiplash being one of them. I also totally agree with your thoughts on everyone sheltering Emilia, even if there is real love there. Mother Fortuna is also another fantastic addition, I won’t talk to much more about her for now though. And Regulus re-enters the scene. He’s one of my favorite antagonists of the series, and his VA just knocks his monologues out of the park. Great thoughts as always, excited for the next ones!
