2024-12-23 16:12:31 +0000 UTCThere’s also a decently large YouTube channel with 600K followers that does 10-15min long cut content videos for EVERY single ReZero episode from Season 2 to every latest episode. They go by the name AniNews and do an incredible job of creating coherent, informative commentary that goes into good detail on all the relevant cut contents of each episode while including visuals and graphics to better help the viewers understand. I used it on my first rewatch of the show and realized upon my first read of the novels way later that it did a surprisingly good job of getting me up to speed. The cut contents videos were so informative that I was brought just as up to speed on the source material as a novel reader even before I read a single page! I will say, the titles and thumbnails on later videos in the playlist are obviously spoilery and could be risky if you get them recommended to you by the YouTube algorithm. Personally, I’d suggest checking them out AFTER you finish watching Season 2, but there is also a very real world where you can just watch them side by side and get a lot out of it too — if you’re confident on avoiding later videos in the playlist. I’ll link it down below, but yea I believe the WitchCultTranslations website is the safest way to get a basic idea of the relevant source content, while the AniNews playlist will be the one that gives you an easy to watch and insightful explanation per episode — but you’ll have to avoid the titles and thumbnails of later videos on your own accord. Either way, these should be all you need without actually getting into the novels! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcX4f6aL0IajFvAPQ_g-b9iqaBGiQVs2j&si=XlnGguKEuQOCoHD4

2024-12-22 17:47:53 +0000 UTCThe web novel translation website by a surprisingly professional group called “WitchCultTranslations” has a section titled “Cut Contents” where they list all the cut contents under spoiler covers and mark them by importance, so you could decide whether or not to click away the spoiler covers. It’s an amazing site and specific section that I used alongside my first watch to enhance my experience. And the value of it was even more apparent after I finally got into the novels. I’ll link it down below, you could definitely check it out if you’d like! https://witchculttranslation.com/cut-content/

2024-12-22 17:24:07 +0000 UTCI apologize for this being off topic, but it's hard to contain my excitement. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes just got officially announced with a teaser trailer and is coming this April! Studio BONES is still doing it, and Yuki Hayashi is also still composing! If I recall, you read the Aizawa backstory section a while back, but Vigilantes has so much more to offer and I can't wait for it to arrive!

2024-12-22 07:00:17 +0000 UTCBest OP time yessss The black and white text frames towards the end during the flashing images basically translate to something like “For you, I don’t care how many times I have to die”

2024-12-21 21:36:51 +0000 UTCHi, you conclusion to episode 1 of season 2 about Subaru's character is very compelling, it would be interesting if you hold onto those thoughts until you begin watching season 3 or just rewatch what you were saying in this episode before beginning season 3. I can’t wait to see your reaction to season 2, season 2 is incredible even compared to one or three on some very important aspects, it’s by far my favorite season out of any isekai, it’s just sometimes difficult to follow because of the complexity, the pace and the word choices that are extremely meaningful but also confusing at first when so many things are happening. Hopefully if you don’t immediately pick up on certain things or fully understand some details there will be comments that will touch on that.

2024-12-21 05:45:57 +0000 UTCLengthy is fine 😁 I appreciate the background info. I wish there was a way to know exactly what information from the source materials is relevant and appropriate cause there's obviously so much that's really important to know but tough to say where the line is

2024-12-21 05:32:02 +0000 UTCLol I just can't get that scene out of my head cause it was so insane, and more so thinking about it from Subaru's perspective. But I do like him, and him being around adds something really nice to the dynamic

2024-12-21 05:16:32 +0000 UTCOn the topic of the way that others perceive Subaru being at odds with his own self perception due to RBD, we see this to some extent in season 2 episode 1, when he tells Emilia that she's amazing, and she replies saying that she thinks that he's even more amazing. Though in that context is was more about mental maturity, I think it's also reflective of Subaru's achievements. Though everyone sees his wins, all he is able to see is the blood-soaked path of failures that led to that victory. What could you possibly do to not feel like a failure in a situation like that? Nothing much else to say about this episode, it's another good introductory episode. Presents plenty of questions. Why did Roswaal leave the mansion open to an attack? What are his motives? Why did Beatrice get so emotional? And then revealing the Witch of Greed at the end of the episode is obviously a pretty big cliffhanger. Another good reaction, even if there wasn't as much character stuff to talk about. I've only read the web novel version of this Arc, not the light novel version. Though the web novel and light novel versions begin and end at the same points, the journeys in between the two points can be quite different, so I won't be able to discuss cut content as much. I just don't know what was changed between web novel, light novel, and the anime. For example, there's a line that Echidna says to Subaru in the web novel which has some insane lore/plot implications that was cut in the light novel, and thus isn't in the anime. Since it isn't in the light novel, it's impossible to know if the implications of the line still hold true. As such I'll be sticking to just saying what I know for a fact was in the light novel, so my comments will be a bit less detailed from now on (a fact which probably makes you happy since I realise that my comments get very lengthy lol.) Can't wait for your reaction to the next batch of episodes!

2024-12-21 05:00:30 +0000 UTCNo thats fair, ig in my case when i watched S1 i had to wait awhile before S2 so ig by this point in the story i already forgave him xD Im not saying its bad tho i actually find it funny we're still hatin on Otto, i mean the guy is a punching bag for everyone else tbh.

2024-12-21 03:32:55 +0000 UTCBasically everyone remembers Otto for pushing Subaru out of the cart going into Season 2 on their first watch. His case of being so terrified of the White Whale to the point of abandoning his humanity was also one of the ONLY examples in the entire series where someone was so far gone that they just lost it (unless you count the IF story routes, which tend to use that as the basis of the plot to begin with). It's too much to ask for pretty much anyone to not hold that against Otto at this point in the story, especially since neither the show nor novels actually specifically tell you that Otto lost it during their encounter with the White Whale and leaves it up to the audience to decide whether or not that's just part of his character. He'd need to prove himself otherwise before anyone can consider him redeemed, if that make sense.

2024-12-21 02:58:24 +0000 UTCLmao i like how u still havent forgiven Otto for pushing Subaru out that one time. It seems u forgave Rem quite quickly for murdering our main man Subaru. Poor Otto man xD Now i wonder how you're gonna feel about Garfiel.

2024-12-21 02:51:21 +0000 UTCGreat thoughts as usual. And yeah, I haven’t mentioned it previously, but as you’ve seen, every character in this series just lies, or is dishonest. Or they work off of incorrect information and assumptions. Just makes the eventual connections and revelations all the more satisfying. There’s a lot to say about tons of minor character moments, setup, and foreshadowing this ep, but besides all that stuff, I love all the Emilia and Subaru interactions we get. They haven’t really had a chance to just talk and enjoy each others company since the first half of S1. Also poor Otto. Getting the cart window shut on him, Subaru flying into him, getting teased constantly, he really goes through it in the background. Extremely excited for next week, think you’re really gonna enjoy the upcoming episodes!
