The ones beside Subaru that dodged the Unseen Hands all had something floating in the air, which the hands then pushed away, hence how they were able to guess where they were — For example at the lake the twins shot something into the water, which then dispersed water droplets all throughout the air and Emilia simply used her ice. That's also why the hands only transparently flickered like that instead of the purple-black hands we see through Subaru's eyes. They didn't actually see them but just guessed where they were and where they were going based on how they interacted with the environment, mainly the stuff in the air. Still impressive though, if not more so.

2024-12-31 01:35:56 +0000 UTCOne is not born Betelgeuse. One becomes. Betelgeuse is a vibe. Beneath the name of Betelgeuse there is more than flesh. Beneath the name there is an idea. And ideas are bulletproof. 3_Spidermen_point_at_each_other.jpg

2024-12-07 12:10:35 +0000 UTCSo, am I right to understand that mabeasts attack everything to do with the witch, that's why they are attracted by Subaru. So in a way they live around the village to protect it from the cult.

2024-11-28 19:55:42 +0000 UTCI wanna echo what people have probably mentioned to you many times now, but you deserve so much more recognition in the reaction content creator space. I don't say this with intent to minimize other content creators and the work they put in, but you have such amazing takes on media. I've adopted many of your philosophies/ideologies. Keep at it! Love the content, man.

2024-11-28 06:42:46 +0000 UTCThey do a poor job of explaining it, but the cloak thing isn't completely cut. It's explained what the cloak does next episode. Though it is extremely difficult to contextualize the significance of the cloak in retrospect.

2024-11-28 01:50:24 +0000 UTCAhh your comment at 5:40ish, "this is the kind of hate that is very close to love" there are some people I've met in the past year who 98% of my interactions with are online through a local Discord server, and online they basically just flame me constantly lol. Can you stop spamming cat gifs? Did you rly need to say that? Can you stop yapping? etc etc. But there is this genuine sense that they do appreciate me and they want to see me improve. So while they might talk to me as if they hate me, and while I might "hate" them too sometimes, they're also the people that I've found myself clinging to the most because they're willing to be honest with me without being worried about offending me, while not actually meaning to make me feel bad, and while being willing to see me change and act differently, and for them to be willing to change and act differently towards me should they want to.... All while maintaining an underlying level of respect between each other? Geez didn't expect to type this much for this section but it was honestly just such an apt comment for a lot of stuff I've been thinking about recently in regards to my interactions with certain people. "You can see my unseen hand??!!!" No clue about how the specifics of these powers work, and I appreciate that they don't explain it here immediately, Subaru can just see it for ??? reason.... but that fucking line, and many others in this show, just crack me up lmao

2024-11-27 10:14:50 +0000 UTCWhat Ferris did to Subaru at the end there was draining all his mana with a single touch. The same thing he did to the cultist merchant right before he self-destructed. Funny enough, Beatrice actually also did this to Subaru during one of their first encounters to teach him a lesson, in episode 2 I believe. The act of draining another’s mana is a skill that normally serves to incapacitate them. But in the hands of someone as skilled as Ferris, who’s the Kingdom’s strongest healer, it can actually kill someone if overdone. This ability is also described as one that leaves the victim in excruciating pain, as you can probably tell from Subaru’s screams both times he got hit by it 💀 (the cultist didn’t react because his body was artificially modified by a curse that prevented him from feeling pain, alongside the bomb it planted on him).

2024-11-27 06:40:23 +0000 UTCI say this as someone who likes this show and its message, but I really, really struggle to watch Emilia do or say anything without being very annoyed with the author. Not sure what that says about me, haha. Anyway, though... one brief note: - 22:18 "If all your teeth haven't broken" > what Wilhelm actually says there is if your "fangs" (kiba) haven't been all broken, as in, as long as you still have tools with which to fight.

2024-11-27 05:01:48 +0000 UTCSeeing your deep takes into this show and every show you react too is amazing to see. You bring up points in Re Zero I never thought about. Well done series so far!

2024-11-27 04:50:54 +0000 UTCSomething you didn't seem to pickup on was ONLY subaru could see the hands. The others with their combat exp or knowledge saw them other ways. The hands are physical things (its why Subaru was kicking them). Besides the sneak attack on Beetlegeese in the back Wilhelm used dust clouds he made to see where the hands were moving when fighting. The cats destroyed the tree by the lake purposly to cause wood chips to fall everywhere showing where thr hands were physically for Wilhelm to doge. Emilia used her ice to make shards/snow everywhere to then see where the hands were moving in it or being hit by the debris. It was a show don't tell moment every time the hands are invisible but visible to the combatant they have a clear flickering effect similar to "invisibility" in video games. Only when we have subarus pov do we see the purple hands.

2024-11-27 03:42:01 +0000 UTCclarifying statement: Emilia could see the meatbags hands because of her ice like how Wilhelm used the dust, master.

2024-11-27 03:20:05 +0000 UTCThat ending, and that death at the end, is one of the most tragic so far. It feels really different from all the others so far. Punctuated not by horror and confusion, but by sadness. I love so much about these episodes. A lot of time is spent developing and fleshing out some of the characters we’ve been introduced too. Wilhelms conversation about what it means to be strong, and how he continues to almost be a role model to look up too, all the Ferris stuff, with the little jabs mixed in with good advice and encouragement, (I like that they gave Ferris a little more focus in these eps, unfortunately due to adaptation a lot of scenes with Ferris in earlier eps were cut or shortened immensely) and especially the Julius stuff. He and Subaru have one of my favorite dynamics in the series. Julius’ constant upholding of an image is really fascinating. And you’re right to say that that “hatred” is close to love. It’s borderline romantic at times with the framing and music, as well as the dialogue. Fitting that they’re one of the most popular ships in the fandom. Love that you noticed that Subaru and Petelgeuse actually mirror each other in a lot of ways, Geuse is a fantastic foil and representation of the extreme ends of Subarus personality, especially in the first half of the season. Also love all the Emilia scenes in these eps, there’s always a distance, a loneliness that is captured in the scenes that I really appreciate. In fact, the second ending (which doesn’t play much in the directors cut) shows what Emilia does in her day to day, all alone in a giant mansion. Also love Ram being back with that sick alternate outfit. Subaru calling himself Emilia’s dog always makes me think of Denji. I think they’d get along. Great thoughts as always, super excited for the finale of S1! (As someone already mentioned last time, make sure to watch the Frozen Bond OVA after S1. It was released in between S1 and 2 and is very important)
