As far as I understand, the songs are actually (at least partially?) written for the show itself, which is why the lyrics are so on-the-nose. Some of them I'm quite fond of, but I too couldn't help but laugh a bit at the funeral scene because of how overly-melodramatic the song was.

2024-11-23 21:57:56 +0000 UTCI agree, blowing up peoples moms makes them a little crazy (Vi, Cait, Jinx) and it truly is one of the cruxes of extremist thought. In general extremism has a hard time existing in a vacuum without something to fear/hate. But luckily (or unluckily) fearing/hating almost always generates more fearing and hating.

2024-11-18 16:01:14 +0000 UTCI think Caitlyn's arc is a very good portrayal of how class privilege can very easily make even the most well-meaning person succumb to fascist-like tendencies as soon as the people fighting back aren't perfect, her talk with Vi at the end pretty much exemplifies that, but luckily Vi is there to keep her thoughts in check in that moment even though Vi probably needs just as much emotional support. It's such a nice dynamic

2024-11-17 10:15:35 +0000 UTCI think one thing to remember, is that a lot of the people working for Silco didn't have much faith in him and presumably didn't like Jinx either. It was apparent at the end of S1 that they wanted him gone, which I would presume that Jinx is part of that. There was conversation or two in S1 about Jinx not being good for their "enterprise" as Finn mentioned. For me, I couldn't draw the conclusion that the people that attacked the memorial, were doing it in Jinx's name. On a separate note, the guy that Vi is drinking with is already an enforcer from my understanding. His coat looked like that of the enforcer apparel, at least that's how it appeared to me.

2024-11-17 08:37:50 +0000 UTCI think it will probably break down into a distribution like most groups: people who are there for selfish reasons, people who are just sort of there, people who really want to do good but don't understand what that means, and people who want to good and are highly skilled. I guess it's a question of what the breakdown is exactly

2024-11-17 05:41:49 +0000 UTCI don't think that the Piltover aristocracy is really even thinking about how much a thriving undercity would benefit the overall health of the whole nation. I mean, you might ask the same of real-life counterparts who might look down on those of lower economic status. I understand your reservations to group think or "rich people bad" kind of narratives, but I think legitimately people in those positions just don't give much thought to people who are negatively impacted by a system that benefits them.
