Just an observation but I thought you would empathize more wit Suiryu. I think he just lead a privileged life, blessed with talent that he worked to build on at some point. We see that when it’s serious he breaks out some specific techniques, showing he did at one point train under a speciality of martial arts. He said himself that he hasn’t trained in years so after putting in some work he kinda just rested on his laurels. He had a privileged life so he had a privileged view point and it’s absolutely on him to expand that view point but from his position why would he? I don’t think there was any malice in his “the strong will survive” just an ignorance of the intricacies and strength of the next level. He thought he reach the peak, I don’t think he thought he WAS the peak, he was just a contender, one among the few. It was probably many factors too brutal of an awaking, but he never had to rely on other. If you never needed saving/help then what would be the point of hero’s? Probabaly too long of a rant but I just really connected with him in that moment, there is something super tragic about someone realizing their mistakes but not getting a chance to put those changes into practice themselves. Luckily satiama showed up
