I also probably had a bisexual awakening when I saw the lord shirtless at the beginning like damn, okay 😳

2024-04-06 23:37:37 +0000 UTCBtw, random thing I noticed now that I’ve caught up. When the lord was mentioning how those with a large willpower can resist it, the knight we saw in the flashback against Aura had the same pendant and sword as his son. We also see that one of the puppets has the pendant as well.

2024-04-06 23:33:59 +0000 UTCYeah. It's cool that you picked up on that. She resolves herself and reiterates "Ah, so you're a monster after all. Good, I can kill you without mercy." Doesn't make sense if she didn't have some doubt in there somewhere. I don't think she would've hesitated to kill Aura even otherwise though.

2024-04-06 01:54:22 +0000 UTCi feel like there’s two sides to this. i would say Frieren is convinced that it’s pointless to communicate with demons. What made it seem like she’s wavering was that scene where she said “i see i should kill you after all”, but i don’t think it was because she was uncertain— but because Aura had commented on the fact Himmel was dead and there was no point listening to him now. It was basically everything against what Frieren was trying to do to atone(?) for not getting to know him better when he was alive, (and there was probably some selfish intent too bc it probably just made her sad to hear it said so coldly). Frieren killed the first demon in the dungeon without hesitation. I feel like if she was wavering, there would’ve been a sign then too. Just my personal thoughts tho!

2024-04-05 09:31:03 +0000 UTCI find that the way demons are presented here to be interesting and a more refreshing perspective compared to the modern fantasy approach where demons are just "humans with a little extra". The idea that these are just creatures that hunt humans and appear human as a way to hunt is chilling and evocative. It's also a parallel to how we might hunt birds or animals by mimicking their calls. In this episode we start to see a bit more to them than before: emotional flaws stemming from a sense of innate superiority, which don't quite seem to track with Frieren's initial thesis of "wild animals who cannot be communicated with". What is the use of something like pride? If anything it's a major weakness. Maybe frieren is being shown to be an unreliable narrator? I think so.

2024-04-05 07:24:18 +0000 UTCJust the fact that you thought the demon girl could have been taught by Eisen tells me that you still don't 100% the demons. They are literally lawful evil incarnate. They are made of magic, that's why they disintegrate into magic particles after death. Eisen campaigned against the Demon King. Next episode is very important to explain magic and duels against demons.

2024-04-05 07:11:38 +0000 UTCI really loved the music in this episode. Honestly the music throughout the whole show has been fantastic. Maybe it's because I've been playing The Witcher 3 recently, but it reminded me a little of some of the battle music from it.

2024-04-05 02:44:07 +0000 UTCI think you’ll really enjoy this show, I’m finding I do even more rewatching it through your reactions. I think anyone with a craft or intense passion will find the awesome parallels between that thing and Magic in the show. At least it has for me with programming/game development… which I guess feels close to magic to me sometimes.

2024-04-05 01:53:45 +0000 UTCLugnar talks about how demons spend their whole lives dedicated to mastering a single type of magic and that's why they're better than other mages. We've seen Fern basically ONLY do attack magic (the modified zoltraak), defense magic, and flying. Fern is doing the same thing that Lugnar says nobody else does but demons, and she's doing it better than him in a much smaller time span. The demon girl says "Fate is an interesting thing" as she's fighting Stark to imply that it's ironic that Stark will die to his master's own moves, without realizing that Stark seems to be set up in this story as fated to SURPASS his master, and he gets to show a taste of that off by beating her by himself. I love this whole episode, and the next one is a banger too
