I am ENTP :)

Funny cause I was wondering how that came across in dub. But somewhat hesitant to watch it again haha

Yeah as other's have commented, Killua is definitely fickle and is also seen lying quite a bit in the show. Even when he isn't doing it for kicks but has an actual good reason for it, he's really good at it, which is a sign that he is quite used to lying casually, just like Hisoka. I think there is at least one instance where Killua also remarks on how bad a liar Gon is before taking the fibbing into his own hands, hah. His fickleness is also often shown. Challenging Netero and be invested, then dropping it out of anger and unleashing it on someone else, going to investigate Kastro, then pretending he didn't actually care about reaching Battle Olympus, which was either a lie or he had already decided he didn't want to reach the top anymore. And that's just examples we've seen so far.

3:50 "Nen is just going to be a model for life" This is what I've been saying and feeling more and more on every rewatch of the anime, and also as I've personally went and developed through life more. I know this may sound like a meme, but there's so much about HxH that is almost like a holy book - the more you read it, the more you realize about life itself, and the more connections you build to it. Togashi took inspiration from seemingly all kinds of art, philosophy and spirituality around the world (not just for Nen), and somehow turned it into one coherent system and story.

he looks like an obvious infj, and definitely appears more n than s, but there are things he's said that indicate stronger se than you'd expect for an infj. i think istp has to be strongly considered, with a decent balance of se & ni ( ti also making his ni look stronger than it is ).

Isaiah Barnwell

Hmm.. , nah i still feel hes an S more than N

م -

Honestly when I started on this channel (and also had an mbti faze) I thought he was INFJ. Now I don’t a clue, but know it is definitely not that, which kind of sums up the Goodwin subscriber pipeline. ENTP is my vote.

Chris Sharpe

Ohh what is your MBTI ? I feel like ESTP suits you 🏃🏻‍♀️

If you want to do yourself a favour, check out the English dub for this fight in particular. It's kinda legendary among dubbing with the anecdote of Keith Silverstein doing Hisoka's lines for the first time and everyone in the studio being like "uhhh no thanks, we're good, we don't want another take of that..". Whether it's true or not is surely up to debate, but listening to the dub I would not be surprised at all. Also love how you pick up on how effective Hisoka's abilities are. There are a lot of Nen users and a lot of wacky, complicated, outrageous powers, but Hisoka can still keep up with just those two very simple abilities due to how extremely proficient he is at using them. I think it's remarked by others more than once just how fast he is using both Bungee Gum and Texture Surprise.

Some other ongoing show will take its place though and that’s ok too!

This episode is an absolute masterclass in characterisation through combat

I think it's because they lean so hard into it that sells it so well. I remember reading this part in the manga the first time, and I could hear Hisoka like he was speaking the whole time. The VA certainly leaves an impression.

Oak

We’ve finally reached the infamous “Hisokagasm” and it’s just as uncomfortable as I remember lol. The VA really does an incredible job with Hisoka. Hisoka is probably the most unique “antagonist?” I’ve ever seen. I say that because he really doesn’t feel like one, since he’s basically just doing his own thing and Gon just happened to fall into that. He’s so unsettling but also so interesting in a way you don’t often see. I also love the way this arc ends. They even set up the whole Battle Olympia thing, only for it not to matter because Gon just did what he came for and left. This arc is really one big stepping stone into not only Nen, but the kind of show HxH is. While I enjoy the Hunter Exam/Zoldyck Family arc, they really feel like an introduction, where Togashi was sorta testing the waters a bit. It’s definitely bold waiting this long to introduce your power system, but I really like it. Plus, it gives more watchability to the Exam arc as you try to spot all the times Nen would’ve been used. I feel like I could talk forever about this show, but I’d rather not give a massive block of text every episode, especially on episodes where I update The Great Nen Info Chart™. I’m glad to hear this arc hooked you a bit more though. Can’t wait for the episodes to come!

Oak

So technically both of you are right. In the 99 anime, it was a cameo from Togashi, and for the 2011 version they decided to make it a cameo from the protagonist of "Level E", another manga written by Togashi.

Oak

Cute fact for the next episode: The VA who plays Aunt Mito is the real life mom of the VA who plays Gon.

Lofi Tech

God especially with the voice acting, it's A grade discomfort. They leaned all the way into it

Alex G

I might up the episodes after JJK ends

Alex G

Lol here I thought it was setting up for something down the line

Alex G

Awesome he’s hooked! The first arc was great but we start with a lot of questions that seem to never stop. This arc brought light to this world through characters. Still a lot more questions but we’ll get there.

Manny

“Don’t get too close to him, especially at that height” These random intrusive thoughts got me wheezing. Honestly, Hisoka is so unsettling and off putting, the author really did amazing when writing him. Like most Hunter x Hunter fans, after watching this a couple times it just becomes f-ing hilarious and we thrive on new viewers’ discomfort.

Chris Sharpe

I can’t remember the exact quote, but I remember another YouTuber saying something like this: “Hisoka is like if Game of Thrones was a character: deceit, sex, and murder”

Chris Sharpe

The guy spent millions of dollars of prize money on snacks, I think fickle is a pretty apt description. On top of that, with Netero (and also many other instances in the show) he doesn’t tend to commit and prefers to leave options open.

Chris Sharpe

Wing said you're innate nen category is largely dependent on who you are when born/growing up. Killua up until this point was an assassin, and someone who both his father and brother (at least) believe would backstab his friends at a moments notice. Killua at this point probably still believes that as well, since he hasn't done anything that he thinks would prove otherwise

Sunny

I think I saw a comment before that said that character is from another of Togashi's series. Never looked into it though

Sunny

It’s so wild to think that it’ll take more than a year to finish the show at a pace of two episodes a week!

bl0odm1st

The first time I watched the show, I had mixed feelings about Killua agreeing so readily with Hisoka's description of transmuters as fickle and lying, since Killua is also one. Still figuring that out.

Ryan

Pretty sure that the sparkling guy that appeared briefly next to the announcer to give an explanation is basically a cameo by the author Yoshihiro Togashi.

ODIS

I think that point about Gon vs Killua's growth sorta goes with their Nen types too. Not everyone grows in the same way. Gon the Enhancer faces growth head on, getting smacked around and learning on the job. While Killua the Transmuter takes a different approach, he shows his Nen growth through his cunning by threatening the level 200 trio and analysing the Hisoka vs Cloning guy fight correctly.

NitrousOxide19

I think it's been mentioned by both Hisoka and Wing that Kastro squandered his nen talent by focusing on things that weren't compatible with his innate category. It makes me think that Hisoka left him alive in their first fight because he thought Kastro could do better with the Tiger Bite Fist, but when Kastro came in with the double ability after around a year (I think) of extra training, Hisoka realized he wouldn't get any better than this and decided to end him in that fight. Gon's saving grace is Hisoka knows he can become so much better so he used this fight as a teaching moment to help him along

Sunny

I really love how Hisoka basically used this battle to teach Gon how nen can be applied in a fight. He walked him through everything as he went it's great

Sunny
