“So she’s a plant” this nigga 🤣🤣

It’s not necessarily abandoned. Orange has mentioned that they’ll work on anything if they get the go ahead from the employer. It’s been implied that Ichikawa wants to finish her manga before the anime continues. All we can do is wait and see! I know what you mean though, the lack of continuation has made me refrain from recommending it to more than a few people, but I still think it’s worth the watch! It’s a gorgeous anime.

Remember to bring it up at the next poll. However, while it is interesting, the fact that it is seemingly abandoned after season 1 makes me NOT want to recommend it.

Arakis

Yeah that makes a lot more sense haha

I know this is totally irrelevant to Steins;Gate (a show I'm absolutely loving watching alongside you for the first time btw), but I was just curious if anyone knows if Houseki No Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) has been recommended to Alex or if its on a poll yet at all? If not, I'd highly recommend it. 12 episodes, and the manga has so much material that it's ridiculous Studio Orange hasn't made a Season 2 yet, but the first season is still fantastic on its own. I'm hoping he gets to see it some day!

I was going to comment something similar initially. I love how committed Faris is with Okabe's nonsense. And she can also apparently play 10 people at once at Rai-Net? She's no joke.

As people have mentioned, it can be hard to translate some stuff in this show. If the subs take it too literally, it won't make any sense, but since that's not even an option in the dub they often have to rewrite certain dialogue so it makes sense. The dub generally does a good job at this though, plus the subs you are using are more similar to the dub in that regard, which is a good thing. An example of something these subs changed is the way Okabe's plan in the Rai-Net tournament is described. They explained G-Back by comparing it to "Get Back", but the hard to translate reason is, (if you'll forgive my less than ideal understanding of the Japanese language) "G-Back" sounds like "jibaku" which can literally mean to suicide bomb or self-destruct. This is exactly what Okabe did in the tournament. Self-destruct so he can finish the game and get his answer as quickly as possible. Technically the subs mentioned the self-destruct thing, but unless you speak Japanese or have watched the show too many times, you wouldn't understand the original translation.

Like another commenter said, Kurisu stops herself from speaking to avoid revealing she has a suspiciously good perception of internet culture and language, another example you can see this in is when she says "Daga kotowaru" (But I refuse) which is a meme from JoJos. There are other occurrences of this throughout the show but the subtitles tend to not reflect what they're actually saying and instead tries to use a meme western people would be familiar with.

TUTURUU~! I wouldn't say anything yet but since you mentioned it by yourself... The part time girl's line "Did someone die?" when Okabe's phone rang, I've seen it translated in a different manner: "Is it the daily death report?" When Kurisu abruptly stopped speaking, she was about to finish an internet memetic phrase. Probably one from the japanese websphere of the time.

They're both fledgling cult leaders too

Honestly, a lot of people tend to overlook Faris right at the beginning. She is legitimately really smart, has a lot of social charisma, is a legitimate businesswoman, and can somehow match Okabe’s level of BS. A lot more impressive than what many initially think.

Hououin Kyouma is him. It really is someone that grows on you. Like he seems like he would be unlikable by everyone. But everyone around him seems pretty damn loyal to his crazy ideas. Mayuri keeps losing her lunch to him. Daru hacked SERN on a request. Faris seems into his persona thing. And now poor Kurisu is slowly failing to resist falling into their lot. lol
