Hi Patrons!
Hope the summer is treating you well and if you live in a sunny area, I hope it's not broiling you with heat. Here is an update post about what I've been working on lately, and what we have planned for August.
Rush Garcia put out a video featuring new art of Aegis Town (by Rebonk) and the Story 8 OST!

It's a different experience just listening to the score on its own, give it a listen here! ► https://youtu.be/TkEFdJw8O3o

Since we're not in animation crunch, I've had some more time to take on illustrated commission work from you guys. I've finished several of them as of late, many of them with a bit more detail than usual (multiple characters and more rendered backgrounds). I'm enjoying the break from animation, and I think I'm learning a bit more about how to effectively shade and light a scene.

I've updated the commission page with more info and examples in case you are interested in requesting one from me. (I may have to close them soon to focus on the next animated project.)

The next (unannounced) project is in the animation phase, and we're chipping away at the first minute of the battle. We don't have quite enough footage to share a teaser, but know that we have quite a few scenes already animated, cleaned and inked already!

The current team (Rebonkulous, Voroxzii, Bokskat, and I) are having a good time familiarizing ourselves with the characters in fighting poses. The smaller scale of this project feels a lot more cozy, and I am already pleased with how a lot of the scenes are turning out.

This shot in particular was very fun to do - Violet is a very expressive character due to her massive eyes and flowy-hair. It makes for very entertaining frames! Something that has been giving me trouble is the odd shape of her bow-blades. They curve at a very particular angle, and translating that profile into 3D movement bends my brain. You can see where I've drawn some construction rectangles around her hands as a way for me to establish perspective (before going into the actual drawing of the blade's curves). Breaking down complex shapes into squares and circles is a good way to tackle perspective drawing.

Our objective for the next couple weeks will be to scale up the team with more animators. That means a lot more shots will need to be delegated and arranged for collaboration. I look forward to sharing more progress in August!

Thank you for your support in these projects~!
