Chapter 5 Animation Complete & NEW Lilian Plush!

Hi Patrons!

Here's a quick update on what's been happening this week.

Lilian Plush Animation is Out!

Watch it above or right here! Based on some of my own interactions with my siblings, the little animation follows the eternally relatable battle over a toy. What pleases me a bunch about this animation is the swiftness in its production, which lasted about 2 weeks total. I love efficient work!

Thank you to KAP, Rebonk, and Djin (sound effects) who helped with the anim.

Apparently KAP took inspiration from the Simpsons for the heart attack shot.

I worked with Makeship over the past several months to offer a brand new Lilian Plushie, shipped straight to yo doors! It underwent multiple revisions to get the proportions just right. (We had the most trouble getting the head looking right).

Story 8 Progress

Gildedguy & the Dragon of Mar is done with all the animation for Chapter 5! The chapter spans 5 minutes and delves into the deeper, darker plot of the story.

Lookit all that green.

What isn't green are the several backgrounds that still need to be rendered, which, shouldn't take much time at all compared to the character animations.

My Asset Cataloging Effort

To assist in that effort I've been combing through all my previous animations in the hunt for reusable assets, backgrounds, and special FX. I've wanted to do this for quite some time now, since I often find myself spending time reanimating things I've already animated before. Since Adobe Animate is a vector program, drawings can be mathematically scaled, tinted, skewed and transformed into new variations. It's a technique you may have noticed in video game development.

I am trying to do the same with this asset library, and I aim to get good use out of it. Although I underestimated the work it would take to actually go back and sort all these animations (it's been 3 days straight now), the collection is looking nice and ripe.

Despite all this, I really enjoy animating fresh FX, so I might not get too much mileage out of this side project, who knows.

Chapter 6

Naturally, after 5 comes chapter 6, which I kind of want to keep a secret, even from streaming. Maybe I'll blur our the screen, or keep the animation work purely offline. Either way, I will try to make sure no one gets needlessly spoiled.

That being said, I'm really excited to embark on the final two chapters of this >year-long project.
