2023-06-24 01:20:48 +0000 UTCahhhh, i love meet-cutes. they’re such a precious trope and an even better irl encounter. 🩷 i kinda had one a few years ago -- i was picking up dinner and a guy i was speaking with while waiting asked me out as i was about to leave. we finished speaking a few minutes prior, so his re-approach had the tone of “…hey wait” lmao. not sure what surprised me more: someone going out of their way to shoot their shot, or that i was called “cute” after being in torrential rain. 🤣 luckily, didn't pick up on any weird vibes so we exchanged instagrams and talked for a few weeks before we got together (which is a long ass time for two college aged people in retrospect lmao). fast forward to us grabbing lunch and it ended up being one of the most painful social experiences i've had lmao. he was just *so* bad at keeping conversation, and 19 year old me quite plainly didn’t know what to make of the person sitting in front of me given his boldness upon our first encounter. i mean, i’m not necessarily an extrovert but connecting with people has never really been hard for me. i was grasping at straws trying to spur a conversation about literally *anything*, but getting him to ask questions back was like pulling teeth. also, we had "exhausted" all the get-to-know-you bullshit while messaging for a few weeks so that definitely didn't help haha. he was sweet but it definitely turned me off and just baffled me. with alllllll that being said, this meet cute went a lot nicer! you show up to the correct destination on time AND sweet talk me? you’re a dream 😘

I don't remember if his group from the hostel told him where they were going or just told him to wear all black? It was at least an hour of all of us laughing to the point of tears. He's one of those people who just goes with the flow and somehow seems to fit in everywhere, including (also) accidentally wandering into a famous bathhouse without paying or any intention of going to a bathhouse.

What a pleasant surprise that was! You have a lovely singing voice, which is really not a surprise. A man of many talents. ☺️I’ve always been envious of those who can play an instrument. I don’t play anything besides a tambourine, but I did used to sing. My friends were all musicians and some of my fondest memories are of heading to the beach in the middle of the night, in several cars, loaded up with instruments, building a bonfire and just singing/playing while we watched the Atlantic swell and crash on the beach. I’m sure the local wildlife did not enjoy me belting out More Than Words by Extreme, lol, but those were good times. Better Be Home Soon is my favorite Crowded House song. I’ve never heard of Lord Huron, but I will def check him (them?) out. And Hallelujah…I love that song. Even in his older years, I thought Leonard Cohen was the sexiest Canadian alive. He had that hot, broody, and intense French-Canadian thing going on. Loved your version. K.D. Lang (another Canadian) did a version for some Olympic ceremonies years ago. I don’t typically like that song sung by a female voice, but K.D. is exceptional. So emotive. Her voice can break your heart. If you haven’t heard it, you should check it out.
