"Daddy's Boy": The Lost STRIPSHOW episode!

Good morning, Classmates.

Patrick Here!

Get ready for a glimpse into a piece of Class Comics history you've never seen before: the lost STRIPSHOW episode! It's not just a rumor—this episode is real!

Back in 2015, I wrote a STRIPSHOW script that, had it been fully realized and released as a finished comic, would have revealed a dramatically different side of Golden Boy's origins, taking his backstory in a vastly different direction from what you've seen in the BRIGAYDE series.

A wonderful artist by the name of ORGE NAVARRO reached out to Fraser and I, and we were excited to collaborate. As was often the case back then with new artists, we'd start off on smaller projects—things like the 1-page STRIPSHOW comic episodes. This was a great way to formally test artists and to ascertain their ability to fit into the Class Comics brand aesthetic.

What you see here today has never been seen anywhere else in public until now. This is the LOST EPISODE of the Stripshow comics series. The episode was called "Daddy's Boy" and was written by me and started to be illustrated by Orge Navarro.

In this mini-story, Tyler Bristol, a.k.a. Golden Boy, returns to his penthouse after a brutal battle. He finds his father's loyal butler—whose name, unfortunately, I can't recall after all these years—waiting for him. This butler was more than just a servant; he was Tyler's mentor, the one who honed his powers and taught him to fight. Their reunion takes an unexpected turn, revealing a surprising romantic tension between them. Orge's illustrations capture a striking emotional intensity in this scene, hinting at a complex relationship that would have dramatically altered Golden Boy's backstory.

Orge's artwork on this story is really beautiful, and had he had the opportunity to finish the page, I have no doubt it would have been a superb episode. Unfortunately, Orge was unable to complete the episode due to unforeseen personal circumstances. He and I always intended to work together again, but sometimes life takes you in different directions.

Unfortunately, we never did get the chance to collaborate again, and this episode remains unfinished, and now, woefully non-canonical, to this day. It serves as a cool look into what could have been. Had it been completed and released, I feel that the BRIGAYDE series would have been greatly impacted by Tyler's "alternate" backstory. Likewise, who knows what other projects Orge could have illustrated and what other adventures he might have brought to life with his beautiful art. Ah, the path unexplored!

In the meantime, we have this gorgeous artwork to admire and appreciate. Though unfinished, it shows a glimpse of what could have been, and remains a part of Class Comics history surrounded by a fun aura of mystery and curiosity.

Enjoy this peek into our archives, dear readers. It's amazing the things one unearths when one digs backward in time through files.
