The Camili-Cat Sculpture that never was.

Way back in 2003 we wanted to have an ultra-realistic Camili-Cat sculpture rendered into a real life presence! It was a perilous journey that unfortunately ended in a disastrous pile of clay on the floor.

We approached a local Vancouver artist to see if they would be up to both the task and the subject matter. Cam's various appendages would have to be meticulously re-created and carefully sculpted so that they would be strong enough to stand on their own.

Initially Cam was to be fully erect, however after a couple of test runs, it became evident that the pendulous pose was more aesthetically pleasing. The flow just didn't work with his massive member thrusting upwards. We wanted something that showed off Cam's lithe physique and stance.

We were lucky enough to visit the artists studio a couple of times during the production, however only one set of photograph survived. It was 2003 after all... cloud backups just didn't exist!

Ultimately Cam never got finished! The artist was forced to move a couple of times and a disastrous accident squashed Cam and killed the project. None of us had the heart to start over from scratch again.

This cat only had one life.

The Greek statue idea is really cool! We'll put in on our idea list!

Class Comics

Random idea but if the material is a nice beige or white, it could print it to look like a greek statue and it would look pretty amazing. I'm sure buyers would also love to paint it themselves.

Very true!

Even without the colour, a 3D model of Cam, or even more exciting, of Peter would be super!!!

Thomas Polk

And there are so many of them! 😭

We've actually often talked about 3D printing characters, but the resolution has only recently gotten good enough for a proper figure. The other element is that color is so important for characters, and that's not possible to get from a home 3D printer. 😟

John! You naughty dog! Are you sure you could handle it getting to full size down your throat? πŸ₯ΊπŸ† That's a great question about what we would have done with it. Put it on a pedestal?

Class Comics

That makes me think, why not 3D print your hunks? I think it could be a nice thing to sell alongside your printed comics ^^

Daz Candyman

That's so cool! Camili-cat is definitely worthy of a sculpture, and agreed on the "limp" member, more fun to imagine it getting hard in my mouth πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹Curious what you would have done with the sculpture had you been able to get it finished? πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ˜˜
