Do you listen to soothing sounds as you drift off to sleep at night? I found out by accident while making an audio that listening to a resting heartbeat sound really relaxed me. Since then I read a few scientific articles which suggest that the falling asleep to the sounds of someone else next to us may lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, reduce cytokines (inflammation), and boost our oxytocin, the βloveβ hormone which reduces anxiety and is responsible for our sleeping cycles.
So I bought a pair of sleeping headphones (I've got 'Acoustic Sheep' but maybe 'Mindband' are better?) and I made a proper stethoscope binaural recording of my own resting heartbeat and breathing. (It's super loud, so you'll want the sound turned down quite low...)
So please get your pillow and snuggle up with me tonight?
Ann
