Last summer my boyfriend and I took a trip to San Francisco, our first time visiting the west coast. We of course visited the castro district and crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. But I also met up with a a longtime follower of mine for a photoshoot!

Meet Matthew, a sweet freckled boy from Oakland. He's a really talented actor who's appeared in a bunch of movies and tv shows, including Veronica Mars! He had been taking some time off from acting and I was surprised at how nervous he was to be in front of a camera again. He told me all about the crazy pressures and anxieties of auditioning and how it was taking a toll on his mental health. Working in the film industry can be incredibly emotionally taxing, dealing with so much rejection based off minor superficial judgements.

When I sent him his photos, he told me how thankful he was to see himself look beautiful again and he posted online again for the first time in a while. I'm so glad to see him back practicing his craft this year, after taking a well-deserved trip abroad and centering himself. I'm glad I got to be apart of his recovery in a small way. Matt is a gorgeous and kind guy and I feel lucky to have met him.
