I think you balanced it pretty much perfectly! There are plenty of audios with that mean speaker which, is certainly fine but I am fragile and get sad xD You got the 'mean, but maybe her meanness is just a defence mechanism' just right. In my head, the story always starts like this audio, then over time the speaker would get more comfortable little by little until they slip up and are vulnerable around the listener until the realise that maybe they aren't just using them for sex out of fear any more and maybe there are feelings??? ...ahem, anyway... it's not like i'm offering a script series idea or anything...
