Campus Lyfe (Progress Update #2)

Greetings, it's been a while so it's time for another dev update regarding the development of Campus Lyfe. I've been quite busy with my full time job so I'm only able to put in hours outside of that. Anyway, here's a breakdown on how things are going:

User Interface

This has been going great. There is a new wallpaper that pops up when you open up the main menu as seen above. I plan to add an animated splash page beforehand for the logo and disclaimer. For now the main menu will be static although I might add a parallax scrolling effect as seen in titles like Being a DIK.

Like I said last update I have already finished the Rewards Gallery and Scene Replay sections. However, I also expanded the rewards gallery as well. I am still working on the phone system which is going quite well. The framework for the Contact and Tasks apps are done so it's time to expand the functionality and work on how the contacts are unlocked as well as how the Tasks are logged and completed. The gameplay loop will still follow a visual novel style with brief free-roam sections scattered throughout where you can interact with the world. I still have no plans to add minigames. Once I am done with the Tasks and Contacts apps, I will move on to arguably the most difficult apps in the phone system, the social media and music apps.

I'd like this VN to be quite immersive so that's why I am focusing on adding these systems to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.

Writing/Story

Now I'm not a writer but I do know the story I want to tell and I know the events that will take place. The plotlines have been outlined and the character bios are almost done. The timeline of events is still being worked on but the events for the prologue chapter are about 60% done. I still have to make sure sure the story does not get unnecessarily bloated and the plot does not run away from me in my excitement. Like I said before, this is a mostly linear story but there are a few choices that I'd like to give players so they can influence the story somewhat.  With that being said, this part is going quite well and things are moving along right on schedule.

I have started posting content on patreon but for now it is limited to fanart renders and bonus renders of my characters. Things are still very slow now as it is still early days but things will pick up, the further I get into development and then once the release happens. Conclusion

In conclusion, things are moving along albeit at a gradual pace. Once the UI and writing are done, I will be able to pick up speed (as much as my job allows). Thank you for your patience and continued support.
