Latest news.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to explain the technical issues I’ve been facing these past few weeks.

It’s important for me to be transparent with you, especially since it has impacted both my workflow and the content I share with you.

Let’s be honest: I broke my own rules and made three mistakes.

Mistake #1:

I bought a brand new Nvidia 5xxx GPU without waiting for proper user feedback, thinking it would speed up my workflow and boost the quality of my visuals and animations.

Unfortunately, these new cards turned out to be incompatible with most major graphics software like Adobe, Octane Render, DAZ, and others.

I saw that there was a problem when it smelled burnt and that two of my fans weren't turning...

The real issue, Nvidia released a new version of CUDA without warning major software companies, making it impossible for many tools to recognize the card.

Imagine the teams at Adobe installing their new cards… only to realize nothing works.

Mistake #2:

I sold my two old GPUs on the very same day—before even fully testing the 5xxx. Yep… not my finest hour.

Mistake #3:

For better gaming comfort, I changed the resolution of The Motel to 1440x900.

The original version is still available and fully functional, but I had hoped to completely convert the project before the next update.

Unfortunately, the tools I normally use for image and animation conversion aren't compatible with the 5xxx yet.

What was supposed to be a surprise has ended up… delayed.

Since then, Nvidia has rushed out nearly 10 drivers and hotfixes to patch things up.

Only five are still available; the rest were pulled because they caused even more issues.

Currently, I can create scenes with this card but not render them.

That same day, I didn’t wait—I went up to the attic and pulled out my old 2xxx cards.

Back when I worked in 1440x900, rendering was pretty fast. But now in 1920x1080, rendering time has exploded.

If everything goes well, one animation can still take up to 2 hours with my PC running at full throttle.

I’m not waiting around for official statements either. A close friend of mine—someone I’ve known forever—is helping me with the heavier scenes. Communication is smooth and he’s been a huge help.

From what I’ve read, Nvidia and DAZ are currently working together to release a CUDA version that will finally be compatible.

I wish I could tell you it’s all going smoothly, but the truth is: while I wait for a fix, you are the ones waiting too. And I hate that.

DAZ isn’t known for communicating updates, so if nothing official is announced by the end of the month, I’ll probably switch to a different GPU model entirely.

Please understand—I can’t give you news unless it’s confirmed. I don’t want to mislead anyone with maybes, guesses or empty promises.

That being said—yes, an update is still coming!

I’ve overloaded my friend with New Day and The Motel, while I’ve been working solo on The Motel – Special Edition.

It might sound contradictory, but this Special Edition is actually fully optimized for fast, high-quality renders—unlike the original version.
