Thank you so much Brigid! I actually did not know if I should consider communist groups as a dating pool so I’m glad you empathized that. My last (very bad) relationship was with a nerdy ex-religious man, so I think I just had very bad luck. I do agree with your logic. Also, it seems very trendy to project oneself as a nerd in the left scene. So maybe I can better learn to separate people who look nerdy for fashion from those who are actually committed to continually learn and explore. Because he did not read at all! I have noticed if the religious background was very strict and there’s religious trauma, the men seem more likely to bend towards porn addiction and “kink”. And there can be some real resistance towards any conversation around degradation and objectification because it’s seen as control and a threat. I will definitely broaden my horizons though as far as cultural interests and political alignment goes. I need a bigger net if I’m going to find someone who isn’t addicted to dehumanizing porn!
