2024-10-31 07:36:58 +0000 UTCtruly traditional hanok houses all have slanted courtyards that slant to the middle and away from the house bc they've been built with with underground "pipes" (usually just bricks dug into the ground or clay tubes but there are a lot of separate pieces so any water messes up the heating bc it'll seep into the open shafts) that go to a furnace to heat the floors The one thing that's always made my head tilt is when they translate chuseok to Thanksgiving. It's not really like Thanksgiving in the american sense, it's basically just a mid autumn harvest festival (always celebrated during the autmn equinox) so it's much more similar to a BUNCH of other cultures that were raised on the lunar calendar to just celebrate the upcoming harvest so it's really more like the celtic/gaelic autumn festival or Sukkot in jewish traditions
