Love the 'fashion show' followed by the questions not to mention the Chaekura interactions. If you have never felt tatami mats, they are slightly 'slippery' in the direction of the fibers. Also, tatami mats are almost always slightly cool to the touch and very comfortable to sit on and sleep on. My Baachan's (grandmother) house had them in nearly every room...loved sleeping on them with the futons (Japanese bedding).
