A heads-up on the "Apple Tax".
Added 2024-08-15 09:40:57 +0000 UTCIf you use the Patreon app on Apple's IOS, Apple are going to start taking 30% of whatever you're very kindly trying to give to the creators you support.
Patreon themselves are setting up a system where this 30% can either be absorbed by the creators - meaning they lose revenue - or the tier fees paid by patrons who use the app are automatically adjusted, so they pay more.
I'm afraid that I will have to opt for the latter, so, in November, if you set up your subscription to my Patreon via the app, you're going to see a minor bump in the price.
Users who set everything up via browser or android are completely unaffected.
Here's Patreon's article on the matter:

Used to work on a mobile game. Having Apple and Goog yoink a third of our revenue was .. a challenge.
