Hey guys. Here are my WIPS for this piece. I'm gonna actually run you through it. So I'm trying something a bit new now. Let me now if you like this version of the WIP post more
So I start out with a rough sketch of what I want, figuring out the composition.

Then I do the final linework and base colours. Depending on the piece, this one takes a few hours because it's where I fully decide what all the details should be.

Here I add a different base color, lighter colour and shading. In Korra's case, I already did more extensive shading to figure out if it works

Here I add reflective light coming from the right side. Notice the difference on Katara's thigh from the previous image. Adding reflective light on shadowy parts gives an object more volume and space

Here I started adding colour to the background, helping me decide the overall feel of the piece. And I also did some lighting on Katara's hair

And here is where the most important part lies. This is when you define the light and dark in your piece, and it really brings out whatever you want focused on. Notice that I placed shadow partly over Korra's ass and Katar's legs to help bring focus more to their upper bodies. Adding hard shadows also brings a bit more life to a piece by making it a bit more dynamic

I was a bit unhappy with the colour of their skin at the end, but I didn't really have the time or will to redraw a lot of my piece. Here is an unfinished concept of what this piece would look like if I had chose my colours better
